Job description

Job Description:

Director of Marketing

Data-Basics I Jonas Software

Remote USA

Are you a marketing leader who gets excited about injecting a product marketing mindset inside an established, financially strong and profitable company?  Are you looking for an opportunity to manage the full scope of marketing from positioning and messaging to website and content building to case studies and email outreach?  Do you have a bias for collaboration that includes building winning relationships with product and sales? If that sounds like you, read on.

For the past 50 years Data-Basics has been helping HVAC/R contractors in Canada and the U.S.,  especially those with a significant service/maintenance component and field crew  grow, scale, and automate their commercial construction businesses profitably with our leading SAMPro Construction ERP software.

Acquired by CORA group in 2023, and now part of the Constellation Software family of verticalized software, we are looking to make strategic investments in building out our marketing function to solidify our position in the market, (re)build our core marketing assets and go-to-market programs to begin a new period of steady, profitable new customer growth while also promoting growth opportunities to our existing and highly valued customers.

Initially reporting directly to the President, as our Director of Marketing you will build, lead and manage our marketing team and efforts to deliver on the outputs and outcomes that align with our growth targets.  You will be our initial marketing team hire but will have a budget to build a small team of experts, full-time and contract, including but not limited to content management, web and design. You will also work closely and in partnership with product and sales teams.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have been a Director of Marketing at a B2B tech software scale up for at least 2 years. While you don’t need to be an expert at everything, you do need to have deep roots in product marketing as well as a comprehensive understanding of how all marketing elements play together from brand and reputation building to content strategy to website and collateral building to customer journey tracking and optimization.  Importantly, you can plan, guide and coach a team across those disciplines to help meet or exceed our growth targets.

Your core strengths will lie in two core areas:

1. Product Marketing, Customer Journey Optimization, Email and Content Strategy, Planning, Budgeting and Reporting:

  • Driving the strategy, plans, budget and executions that set the stage for and then deliver on annual targets and continued growth
  • Solidifying our market positioning and messaging and then ensuring existing and new marketing assets and programs align to this positioning
  • Clear and accurate tracking and reporting on marketing activities and customer journeys through our entire funnel (HubSpot and/or Salesforce experience a plus)
  • Overall brand and reputation building including but not limited to maximizing the impact of trade events, sponsorships, thought leadership, and online reviews
  • Ideally, proficiency (or curiosity) in supporting strong outbound and account-based go-to-market motions (ABX) with email, content and messaging that helps build awareness, trust and influence with accounts over time
  • Strong understanding of email and content strategies that engage and convert both new and existing customers
  • Familiarity and competency with the latest software (AI and others) that allow you to build systems and processes that scale and significantly reduce the load on manual work
  • Bringing a customer-centric approach and orientation to all marketing efforts and representing the voice of the customer in all that we do

2. Team Leadership:

Collaborative Bias: You have a bias for building collaborative teams and thrive when working as partner with all other core functions including sales and product

People Champion: You take personal responsibility for the development and success of your direct reports

Leadership Growth: You are keen to learn and grow as a leader of people, teams, and outcomes

Customer focused: You are a model of a customer focused leader, always curious and always connected with our customers, their needs, their stories and their perspectives

Informed: You enjoy keeping an ear to the ground on emerging marketing approaches, software and tools that may better your own or your team’s performance

WHAT WE’D LIKE TO SEE IN OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You thrive equally in strategy and execution. You are inventive and resourceful and can turn your ideas quickly into implementations. We move fast, but we are smart about it.

  • You are entrepreneurial at heart, but methodical in your approach
  • You love to learn - about your craft and your own personal development
  • You get a rush when projects move ahead and when your team's efforts result in a win
  • You believe in collaboration and enjoy adding value and getting value by engaging with every department that touches the customer experience
  • You’re probably your own toughest critic and have an internal drive to succeed and help others do the same. You never want to be the weak link, but the strongest.
  • You are passionate about the growing commercial HVAC/R construction space and helping owners and operators drive profitability and efficiency as they grow

COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
Compensation is commensurate with experience, so apply knowing that we will evaluate you based on your expertise and past experience. We are VERY competitive and offer the following compensation package:

  • Comprehensive, paid medical insurance/Life insurance
  • Paid vacation and paid time off
  • Generous bonus potential
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • 401k with matching
