We are expanding across multiple markets and seeking a Controls Engineering Manager to lead a dynamic team of engineers and technical professionals. This role offers a high-visibility, high-impact opportunity to drive technical solutions and shape the future of a rapidly growing business line. With strong dotted-line collaboration with Sales and Project Management, you will play a critical role in delivering innovative control systems solutions.

This is a remote position with up to 25% travel and requires expertise in Building Management Systems (BMS), ideally in a new construction environment.

What You’ll Do:

Leadership & Growth

  • Develop and execute a strategic business growth plan in collaboration with Executive Management, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Coordinate, lead, mentor, and expand a team of engineers and technical specialists, fostering a strong project delivery culture.
  • Engage with key clients to ensure project excellence and strengthen long-term partnerships.
  • Capable of leading projects while contributing to other projects in a supporting role
  • Must be able to prioritize and delegate task work to project team members

Bid Reviews, Scope Development & Effort Estimation

  • Participate in bid reviews, ensuring alignment between customer scope, design requirements, and project feasibility.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Project Management to develop accurate engineering work breakdown structures (WBS).
  • Provide precise effort estimates for engineering tasks, ensuring cost-effective project execution.
  • Assess risks, resource needs, and technical constraints during the proposal and planning stages.
  • Ensure that customer requirements are properly translated into detailed design and execution plans.

Engineering & Project Oversight

  • Oversee multiple control system projects, managing resources, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Provide technical support for projects led by other teams.
  • Ensure budgetary, scheduling, and quality control requirements are met across all engineering activities.
  • Lead the design and implementation of integrated electrical and control systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, design, production, and field service teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Technical Expertise

  • Specify and configure control system hardware, including instrumentation, PLCs, communication systems, and industrial control panels.
  • Design and optimize PLC/SCADA networks.
  • Develop and test PLC and HMI applications using platforms such as Schneider Electric, AVEVA, Rockwell, Ignition, and WAGO.
  • Interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), wiring diagrams, and bid packages, providing field-based insights.
  • Ensure adherence to the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Lead the detailed design of IT systems, network infrastructure, and computer systems related to control system integration.
  • Value-engineer specifications to deliver cost-effective solutions without compromising performance.

What You Bring:

  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls integration.
  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading teams.
  • Strong background in data center automation and controls.
  • Deep understanding of engineering standards, process control instrumentation, and automation protocols.
  • Ability to develop PLC and HMI programs in one or more platforms (Schneider Electric, AVEVA, Rockwell, Ignition, WAGO, etc.).
  • A collaborative mindset with strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% within the U.S. to support estimation, bidding, and site walk-downs.
