Responsibilities:
  • Analyze geospatial data to support catastrophe risk assessments.
  • Utilize GIS tools such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or other spatial analysis software.
  • Work with raster and vector data, performing extraction, transformation, and manipulation.
  • Develop and apply geospatial models to enhance risk predictions and assessments.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to integrate spatial analytics into broader catastrophe modeling frameworks.
  • Ensure data quality and consistency across multiple geospatial datasets.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in GIS data science, spatial analysis, or geospatial modeling.
  • Strong proficiency in GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL).
  • Expertise in Python and/or R for geospatial analysis, including experience with libraries such as GeoPandas, Rasterio, Shapely, and Fiona.
  • Knowledge of spatial data formats (e.g., GeoJSON, shapefiles, NetCDF) and best practices for handling large geospatial datasets.
  • Experience with spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS) and distributed computing for geospatial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
