We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior User Researcher to join our dynamic team. You will relentlessly pursue making our products better for our users, playing a crucial role in understanding our users' motivations, goals, needs, behaviors, pain points and expectations to inform the design and development of our digital products and services.

 

You’ll provide product teams with insights that inspire and validate the ways they can meet the current and emerging needs of their users. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, data scientists and developers, to help ensure our solutions are user centered and deliver exceptional experiences.

 

The role spans 3 main areas: User Research and Service Design, Research Quality and Enablement and Insight and Journey management.

 

You’ll run user research and service design on our high priority initiatives enabling longer term strategic innovation and evolution across our ecosystem. You’ll provide product teams with insights that inspire and validate the ways they can meet the current and emerging needs of their users.

 

You'll provide the design team with deep research expertise across generative and evaluative research using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods. You’ll be our go to expert, coaching, advising and upskilling teams on the right research methods to uncover the insights they seek. You’ll run research operations including making recruitment easier, reaching customers who don’t usually engage with us, and keeping up to date with the latest research tools and AI advancements to help us get to better user insights faster.

 

You’ll document, organize and manage our repository of insights, archetypes and journeys guiding and inspiring product teams with research driven insights. You’ll encourage teams across the organization to contribute to and adopt the repo to improve the quality and coverage.

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and conducting qualitative and quantitative research on our high priority initiatives, using a variety of methodologies such as remote and in-person interviews, usability testing, card sorting, tree jack testing and surveys, to deeply understand our users
  • Drawing clear conclusions and actionable insights from analyzing qualitative and quantitative research findings.
  • Driving a highly agile and adaptive approach, encouraging teams to iterate quickly and refine solutions based on data and user insights
  • Conducting desk based research such as competitor and comparative product reviews to inform product teams thinking, provide inspiration and avoid reinventing the wheel
  • Representing the voice of our users in the product design process, including working closely with the product teams to take your research insights and recommendations into prototyping
  • Triangulating data from research and other sources (such as data analytics, sales, Pendo) to glean insights and actionable recommendations for our product teams
  • Ensuring success metrics adequately measure the impact of any new/modified designs
  • Advocating for the user throughout the product lifecycle, engaging with customers and users through research and feedback sessions, site visits, focus groups, Anthology and user conferences to inform design decisions and validate solutions
  • Working closely with cross functional teams to identify and prioritize research questions to reinforce understanding of the problem space and users
  • Advising and mentoring others to run research, ensuring appropriate research is conducted, at the right time and the most suitable methods are applied.
  • Reviewing teams research and recruitment plans, coach and mentor on storytelling, research sessions, synthesis of research data and getting to actionable insights and recommendations which will move the needle
  • Running research operations including recruitment, compliance (GDPR etc), insight and journey management, tooling & infrastructure, training and best practice
  • Championing inclusive research practices by ensuring accessibility considerations are integrated into user research methods, enabling insights from diverse users, including those with disabilities
  • Travel may be required to help fulfill job responsibilities (up to 20%)

 

The Candidate:

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years+ industry experience, applying qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Deep expertise in generative, formative and evaluative research
  • Strong understanding of service design principles, including how user research informs service experiences, orchestrates touchpoints across channels, and drives systemic improvements
  • Experience leading international research on cross cultural products
  • Strong understanding of the design process and integrating research across the product lifecycle, including 0–1 products
  • Skilled at distilling complex insights into clear, actionable narratives that enlighten and inspire
  • Ability to coach and mentor teams to conduct impactful, fast-paced research
  • Experience managing global research operations, including legal and compliance considerations when handling research data
  • Solid knowledge of inclusive design and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA and 2.2 AA)
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams across design, product management, development, data science, senior management and domain experts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-moving, collaborative, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with globally distributed teams, maintaining strong relationships across teams with diverse cultures and work styles
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Team player with exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation and storytelling skills 
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
