Job description

PDMI is seeking an Operations Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for deploying Cobol code and managing, troubleshooting, and optimizing batch processing jobs across both Linux and Windows environments. You will also play a key role in supporting automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong Linux administration skills, scripting experience (Bash, Python, etc.), and solid expertise in managing job scheduling tools such as Cron, Windows Task Scheduler, or similar platforms. Your contributions will be critical to ensuring the reliable and timely execution of essential business processes.

Since 1984, PDMI has provided pharmacy data processing and other flexible, scalable solutions to help our clients meet their business objectives. We offer transparent, pass-through pharmacy processing and other services for private label Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), vertically integrated health plans and hospital systems. In addition to Pharmacy Benefit Administrative Services, we offer 340B Administration, Hospice and Long-Term Care Services.

Why Join Us:

  • Collaborative Environment: Work with passionate professionals who share your drive.
  • Exciting Challenges: Every day brings new opportunities to excel.
  • Flexible Work: Fully remote opportunity with a company that cares.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and manage application code updates, including Cobol code deployments using Git, ensuring proper versioning and rollback procedures.
  • Monitor, manage, and troubleshoot batch jobs in Linux and Windows environments to ensure seamless operations.
  • Write, modify, and maintain scripts (Bash, Python, etc.) for automation and job scheduling (Cron, Windows Task Scheduler, or similar tools).
  • Enhance monitoring and alerting to improve job execution reliability.
  • Work closely with business users and IT teams to investigate and resolve operational issues.
  • Document and maintain operational procedures for job execution, deployments, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in incident response and root cause analysis for job failures or performance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and operational procedures in a regulated environment.
  • Provide after-hours support for critical failures as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 3+ years in IT operations or similar roles with a strong focus on batch processing and job automation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Linux command-line operations (Red Hat, Ubuntu, or similar).

    • Scripting expertise (Bash, Python, or similar) for automation and job management.
    • Experience with Git for version control and application deployment, including Cobol code deployments.
    • Basic familiarity with Cobol or claims processing systems (a plus, but not required).
    • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve job failures and performance bottlenecks.
