The role

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has developed a set of world-leading learning experiences that support computing education for young people aged 6-18 years old, addressing both formal education and non-formal learning contexts. This includes:

  • A complete sequence of lesson resources, online courses, and interactive questions to support the teaching and learning of computing and computer science in schools that is mapped to the Kenyan competency based curriculum.
  • Content to support facilitators and their young people to engage with computing and digital making in our network of Code Clubs.

Our aim is to further develop these products to benefit learners across Kenya by deeply understanding the local context and by designing and delivering educator training in Kenya to grow their reach and impact.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is looking for an experienced educator and trainer to support this work. This multi year project will involve:

  • Collaboration with our UK based team to design curriculum sequences for multiple grades.
  • Adapting existing lesson materials (slides, worksheets, lesson plans, etc) to suit the above sequence and the needs of learners in Kenya.
  • Designing and delivering training and leading the delivery of the Approved Trainer initiative in Kenya, quality assuring a network of partner trainers.

The ideal candidate will have a qualification in computer science or a related subject, with a teaching qualification or significant experience of teaching and experience designing and delivering training. You will need to be comfortable with a wide range of hardware and software, and be eager to learn more.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. We have a flexible and collaborative approach to all aspects of our work. If you’re the right person for this role, we’ll make it work for you, and you can be confident that you’ll be working with an exceptional team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver learning experiences, content, resources, and training for the Foundation's educational programmes and products.
  • Ensure that learning experiences, content, resources, and training reflect evidence-based pedagogy and the Foundation's agreed approaches to teaching and learning across formal education and non-formal learning.
  • Lead the Approved Trainer initiative in Kenya, building and quality assuring a network of partner trainers.
  • Contribute to the development of the Foundation's teaching and learning approaches. Actively engage with research and best practice, and identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and external partners.
  • Engage positively with the Foundation's systems for quality assurance, including in relation to agreed policies for inclusion and accessibility.
  • Proactively utilise user feedback and data to drive improvement.
  • Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences and stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to the Foundation's thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners. Openness to working across the Foundation's programmes and products.

About us

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is an educational charity with the mission to enable young people to realise their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies. You can read more about us on our website .

Established in 2008 and first known for our product — the wildly successful Raspberry Pi computer — the Foundation has developed education programmes, learning experiences, and products that are helping millions of young people learn vital new knowledge and skills.

Through Code Club, we support the world’s largest network of free informal computing clubs for young people. Tens of thousands of educators have taken our online courses, and millions of people use our free online learning resources. To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and how to create with digital technologies, we conduct academic research, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of computing education.

Across all of our work, we work hard to engage young people who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the field of computing or who experience educational disadvantage. We work all over the world, with teams based in the UK, Ireland, North America, and India, and partnerships with mission-aligned organisations in over 40 countries.

We are at the forefront of the global movement to help young people learn about computing and digital making. You can read more about our mission, values, and goals in our Annual Review 2022 and our Strategy 2022-2025.
