Senior DevOps Engineer

The Opportunity

At Climavision, our work solves rapidly evolving challenges, with efficiency and scalability at the core of our solutions. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, automation, and security of our cloud infrastructure. This is a position requiring deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive DevOps best practices across the organization. If you have extensive experience with on-prem and cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or others as well as experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and high-availability systems, we would love to speak with you.

The Work

You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure, ensuring the seamless deployment of mission-critical applications. Collaborating across teams, you will drive automation, security, and performance improvements while mentoring other engineers in DevOps best practices.  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Kubernetes manifests, Helm, Ansible, & Terraform to manage new and existing Azure, Metal-as-a-Service (MaaS), and on-prem infrastructure
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and clients to gather requirements and ensure successful implementation.
  • Continuously improve automation processes to enhance productivity and streamline development workflows.
  • Secure and maintain software-defined networking & security using Tailscale and Zero Trust security practices
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve Cloud, Metal-as-a-Service (MaaS), and on-prem networking & infrastructure issues across the business.
  • Conduct regular security and system testing to proactively identify vulnerabilities and implement monitoring solutions.
  • Identify technical challenges and develop proactive solutions to mitigate risks and improve system reliability.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring & logging infrastructure using Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Grafana, and Datadog for proactive issue detection and resolution.
  • Manage distributed storage systems such as Longhorn & Azure Storage for high availability & performance optimization.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Octopus Deploy to automate software releases and deployments.
  • Design and manage microservices to enhance application scalability and resiliency.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Development, or a related field.
  • 4-7 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineer, and/or similar role.
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Kubernetes, Helm, Ansible, & Terraform to manage new and existing Azure, Metal-as-a-Service (MaaS), and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and a variety of Kubernetes distributions such as Rancher Kubernetes Engine (RKE2) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Experience in identifying and resolving difficult networking and infrastructure issues in on-prem and cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, or others.
  • Proficiency with Git and Github workflows for version control and building containerized applications.
  • Expertise creating and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines with Octopus Deploy experience preferred.
  • Proven experience implementing monitoring & logging infrastructure using Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Loki, Grafana, and Datadog.
  • Knowledgeable with distributed data storage systems such as Longhorn and Azure Storage.
  • Experience managing databases, primarily with PostgreSQL and to a lesser degree CosmosDB.
  • Secure and maintain software-defined networking & security using Tailscale and Zero-Trust security practices.
  • Participation in team on-call rotation.
  • Proven track record of delivering and leading multiple DevOps/SRE/Infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working in start-ups, scale-ups, or high-growth companies is a plus.

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.   
  • Fully Remote from the United States   
  • This job requires frequent use of a computer to complete tasks, attend meetings, and communicate via Microsoft Teams.
