Job description

Title: Load Management Consultant 

Location: Remote US 

 

Job Description 

We are currently seeking a Consultant for our Distributed Energy Resources and Load Management (DER and LM) Line of Business to support the continued success of our Load Management Pilots and Program offerings. The goal is to bring analytical insights and operational rigor to designing and implementing the next generation of DSM programs as a contributing pathway benefit both the customers and the grid that serves them. This includes managing and aggregating distributed resources such as smart thermostats, solar, storage, water heaters and electric vehicle charging to extract value at the retail and wholesale level. As a Consultant, you will perform research and analysis, develop collateral, and interface with clients on key pilot and program deliverables to ensure they are implemented seamlessly for clients.  

 

You will work with senior leadership and regional teams to leverage our best-in-class analytics in support of the continued development, sales, and delivery of innovative load management pilots and program designs. Additionally, you will help direct the implementation of standardized approaches and best practices to ensure optimized, consistent, and cost-effective delivery of these offerings as we develop them to scale.

What you will be doing (Key Responsibilities):  

  • Coordinate and collaborate with multi-functional project teams comprised of program operations, account management, marketing specialists, data scientists, and energy analysts (ICF staff and subcontractors) to ensure timely and professional completion of all tasks and achieve load management pilot and program goals. 

  • Contribute to the overall success of utility load management pilots and programs through completion of research and analysis tasks. Successfully communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders through development of presentations and reports.  

  • Research and develop load management dispatch strategies aligned with utility client goals, leveraging insights from energy market research. 

  • Develop in-depth expertise in load management to support ICF's broader thought leadership efforts, including contributing to white papers, presenting at conferences, and driving leadership initiatives in utility energy programs. 

  • Conduct data analysis and create visualizations to enable data-driven decision-making and optimize program outcomes. 

  • Work with colleagues to develop processes and maintain comprehensive documentation of program operations to facilitate learning, consistency, and continuous improvement. 

  • Mentor and manage new hires and junior staff by overseeing onboarding, training, and teaching processes and methodologies to ensure team growth and success. 

  • Interface with clients on key issues related to deliverables and areas of expertise. 

  • Support business development activities through research and development of collateral related to the load management offering. 

  • Support competitor research and how it potentially influences offering development and/or sales. 

  • Continue to enhance and innovate ICF’s load management offering. 

 

What we need you to have (Minimum Requirements)  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

  • 4+ years of experience in an analytical role

  • MA/MS in a related field preferred  

  • Experience working with utilities 

  • Ability to work collaboratively and cohesively in a challenging, fast paced team environment 

  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects/tasks to meet goals, deliverables, and deadlines

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$89,203.00 - $151,646.00
