Vikco is seeking a full time Underwriter to join its team.

Job Summary:

The primary goal of the Underwriter is to effectively evaluate, underwrite and price builders risk projects, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines. Analysis of submissions, assessing risk, and applying appropriate terms and conditions. Manage relationships with brokers and internal/external stakeholders. Generate profit in accordance with Business Unit goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gather & assess risk information provided in submission proposals
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Business Unit underwriting and rating guidelines
  • Ability to determine acceptable risks in alignment with underwriting guidelines
  • Evaluate risk characteristics and determine necessary information needed for effective analysis
  • Effectively rate and price risks based on Business Unit rating guidelines
  • Prepare & issue quotation, binder, and policy documents
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders/business partners
  • Utilize Business Unit technology (policy management system, 3rd party vendor software, etc.)
  • Engage in professional development through industry and organizational education and training
  • Analyze and rate endorsement requests

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize responsibilities effectively
  • Ability to utilize data and relevant information to assess risk
  • Competence in identifying key hazards within a risk
  • Ability to adhere to rating & underwriting guidelines
  • Basic understanding adherence to statutory & regulatory compliance 
  • Strong internal and external communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Excel

Education/Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree or 5+ years of industry experience
  • 2-3 years of industry experience in a similar role
  • 1 Industry specific accreditations (CRIS, ARM, PC license, CPCU, etc.)

Pay Range: 70,000-90,000 USD per year
