Position Summary:
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL invites applications for an instructor. This instructor is a 12-month position funded by the Center for Online and Continuing Education (COCE). This instructor will teach 3 to 4 fully online mathematics and/or statistics courses per Fall and Spring semester, 2 such courses in Summer, and will have other instruction- and/or service-related responsibilities. Tasks include eDesigning or redesigning courses, achieving High Quality and Quality Matters recognition for online courses, or assisting other faculty with these tasks. The instructor will also serve on committees at various levels of the university. Additionally, the instructor will be tasked with completing FAU’s 8-week self-paced Teaching Online: Pedagogy and Practice (TOPP) within their first semester.
This Instructor Will Be Responsible for the Following:
- Plan and teach assigned mathematics and/or statistics courses.
- Evaluate the academic progress of students.
- Submit course grades and perform other administrative duties as required.
- Participate in curriculum and/or program development, as assigned.
- Serve on appropriate department, college, and university committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
A master’s degree in mathematics or closely related field, but a Ph.D. is preferred.
Candidates should have a minimum of one year of online teaching experience at a university and a commitment to excellence in teaching online mathematics and statistic courses and have experience with online course development.
