Job Role: Payroll Office and Accounts Payable

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 9 AM - 6 PM (AU Time Zone)
Salary range: 1400 - 1800 AUD

Role Overview: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) and Payroll Officer to manage the AP and payroll functions for our Australian operations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, efficient processes that comply with Australian regulations, including GST, PAYG withholding, Superannuation, and leave entitlements.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll:

  • Process end-to-end payroll for Australian employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Calculate and withhold PAYG taxes, superannuation contributions, and other deductions in compliance with Australian laws.
  • Administer employee leave entitlements (annual, sick, long service, etc.), maintaining accurate balances and records.
  • Handle payroll queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Prepare and submit Single Touch Payroll (STP) reports to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).

Accounts Payable:

  • Process and manage supplier invoices, ensuring proper coding and approvals in line with company policies.
  • Prepare and execute payment runs (EFT, etc.) while maintaining accurate records of transactions.
  • Reconcile accounts payable balances and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian GST rules, including accurate GST coding and reporting.
  • Assist with month-end closing processes by providing AP-related reports and reconciliations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance AP efficiency.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Maintain compliance with relevant Australian laws, including GST, PAYG, and Superannuation Guarantee requirements.
  • Provide accurate payroll and AP data to support internal and external audits.
  • Stay up to date with changes in Australian payroll and tax legislation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years AP and Payroll experience working for an Australian business
  • Strong knowledge of GST, PAYG withholding, superannuation, and Australian leave entitlements.
  • Proficiency with accounting and payroll software (e.g., Xero, Wageloch, or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
