Job description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

The mission of the Platform Product Group engineers is to build a trusted, scalable and compliant platform to operate with speed, efficiency and quality. Our teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase. There are many teams that make up this group which include Product Foundations (i.e. Identity, Payment, Risk, Proofing & Regulatory, Finhub), Machine Learning, Customer Experience, and Infrastructure.

The mission of the Onboarding & KYC Team  is to build the most trusted and scalable solutions that enable compliant product and geo expansion, propelling the next billion users onboard onto Coinbase. We are the market leader in crypto because we have the most resilient regulatory products and services that ensure the right users have access to the right products at the right time. The Onboarding & KYC Team is central to the success of the business by ensuring smooth operations in markets that we serve customers while laying the groundwork for new opportunities abroad.

This role will be responsible for craft and excellence of our user experience across all regulatory product journeys for CB users globally. These experiences ensure that customers are able to sign up and use financial products while balancing friction and regulatory requirements. Across the user know-your-customer (KYC) lifecycle there are many opportunities to optimize user needs to increase user success while mitigating business risk.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and execution for the KYC components (document and non-document verification).
  • Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation to launch.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, legal, and other stakeholders to develop new products and features.
  • Define and analyze metrics to guide product development.
  • Communicate progress on initiatives and influence executive leadership of your vision.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 5+ years of product management experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, relationship management and organizational skills.
  • Deep analytic, prioritization and problem solving skills.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to haves:

  • Familiarity with KYC or onboarding products such as identity verification.
  • Experience building complex products that balance trade offs across multiple customers.
  • Experience working in a financial services company.
