Are you a skilled actuary looking for an exciting opportunity in the Property and Casualty (P&C) (preferably Home/motor) insurance sector?
We are seeking talented P&C Pricing Actuaries to join our dynamic team and help us drive our pricing strategies to new heights.
Role:
- Pricing Analyst – 1 to 3yrs
- Sr Pricing Analyst – 3 to 6yrs
- Principal pricing Analyst – 6 to 12yrs
Location : Remote
Education: Master’s / Bachelor’ degree in Actuarial Science/Statistics/Mathematics/B.Tech with good academic background
Mandatory Skills: Core /technical pricing, RADAR/EMBLEM, R/Python, SAS
Essential:
- Actuarial qualification is desirable
- Significant pricing experience.
- Solid knowledge of relevant statistical modelling methods – in particular GLMs
- Knowledge of relevant machine learning techniques – in particular GBMs
- Proven experience in working with large data sources
- Good command of Python, SQL, SAS or similar coding languages
- Experience of Willis Towers Watson software such as Radar or Emblem
- Good understanding of the various elements of a Technical Price, including business expenses, other costs and actuarial/inflation assumptions
- Good stakeholder management skills, including communication, expectation management and the ability to convey technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Ability to build and maintain relationships throughout both the Pricing Department and the wider business
- Excellent working knowledge of actuarial methods and principles, ideally in a pricing context including the use of Actuarial software. Data science skills are preferable.
- Experience of working in an insurance pricing role. An understanding of modelling techniques, including GLMs and GBMs and their application to insurance pricing.
- Knowledge of price optimisation and the general insurance regulatory environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Office or equivalent applications.
- Experience of planning and managing projects from inception to completion within business timelines.
- Ability to manage and guide junior members in the team.
Desirable:
- Excellent data handling skills using SAS and/or SQL. Experience in a data science programming language, preferably Python.
- Knowledge of Agile project management processes.
The Details
Your role will vary day to day, but here is a bit of what you can expect:
- Assist in planning and carrying out risk model updates – continually looking to improve data and processes
- Work with different teams and stakeholders to achieve an understanding of their needs, data requirements and expected modelling outcomes
- Get hands-on with data from its source right through to modelling and then implementation in rating
- Analyse data, interpret output and communicate results to a non-technical audience
- Build and test Statistical models and machine learning algorithms
- Work with Data Enrichment team to obtain and use third-party and internally-generated data sources to enhance models
- Support the business in the deployment of its data solution
- Assist in coaching and developing other colleagues within the team to ensure constant up-skilling.
