Job Description

The Principal Benefit Analyst is responsible for providing thought leadership and benefit expertise to advance Prime’s benefit philosophy, strategies, and programs. This role will play an integral role in analyzing data and trends, and developing and executing strategies to improve employee value, manage costs and provide competitive benefit and wellness offerings. This role will provide input to the development and execution of our employee benefits strategy and roadmap, conduct complex data analysis to evaluate plan effectiveness, identify cost-saving opportunities, and make strategic recommendations regarding benefit plan design and utilization.

Responsbilities

  • Manage annual renewal process, including analyze plan utilization, claims and health trends, model plan cost and design options, and prepare recommendations to drive and influence executive decision making and approval of new benefit programs or modifications to existing plans
  • Provide thought leadership and consultative approach in recommending, designing, developing, and implementing competitive benefit and wellness programs
  • Develop comprehensive executive plan summaries on benefit and wellness programs performance to regularly present to HR and senior leadership
  • Research industry trends and evaluate benchmark data to make data-driven insights and recommendations to increase competitiveness
  • Develop and support communication strategies to inform employees about new benefit plans and benefit changes and provide input and support to the setup, implementation and administration processes
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal partners to gather data and feedback to analyze current benefit and wellness plans; identify areas to improve employee experience and satisfaction and address utilization issues
  • Conduct executive benefit reviews and provide recommendations, including preparing information for board meetings as applicable
  • Partner with finance to manage the benefit budget, model annual employer costs, monitor benefit budget and ensure accuracy of reported spend, and resolve benefit accrual issues; provide annual benefit spend projections by vendor and plan for internal invoicing setup each year
  • Ensure all benefit plans, processes and policies adhere to federal and state regulations, including ERISA compliance; monitor legislative changes impacting employee benefits and implement necessary adjustments; review and interpret plan documents to address compliance issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or other related area of study, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience; HS diploma or GED is required
  • 7 years of work experience in Benefits
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for work visa or residency sponsorship

Additional Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop presentations using insights and data to effectively communicate key messages
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Highly analytical and research oriented with the ability to analyze data with a high level of accuracy and consistency
  • Proficiency in Excel and other analytics tools
  • Ability to effectively work through ambiguity
  • Proven ability to build/maintain strong relationships
  • Strong understanding of relevant federal and state regulations (ERISA, ACA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) designation
  • Experience developing and administering executive benefit offerings
  • Extensive experience in employee benefits design and administration

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must be able to “move or traverse”
  • Must be able to constantly operate a computer and/or other office productivity equipment
  • Must be able to hear and constantly communicate information and ideas. Must be able to exchange accurate information

    Potential pay for this position ranges from $94,000.00 - $160,000.00 based on experience and skills.
