Job description

Amentum is seeking a versatile and dedicated Deputy Program Manager to provide management and oversight support.

​​Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure successful implementation of the PM's strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables
  • Monitor program reporting and assist team in reporting to stakeholders
  • Establish frameworks and standards for program and compile program related financial information
  • Oversee project costs and ensure finances are well managed
  • Provide and maintain a capacity planning and resource tracking service across the program
  • Track financial reporting while ensuring the projects adhere to the agreed budget
  • Ensure cross-program dependencies are managed
  • Ensure that contract service, quality and performance requirements are met
  • Coordinate project kick-offs and project closures to ensure good practice and ensure lessons learned are logged.
  • Develop staffing/position descriptions, interview and select candidates for hire/projects.
  • Supervise staff, build cohesion within the team and motivate team to produce quality work
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the government's program managers, Contracting Officers (CO), CO representatives (COR), and Alternate CORS in support of the Program
  • Provide project planning, milestone management, scope management and resource forecasting
  • Prepare regular status reporting for clients and leadership

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience managing projects for defense-related or other complex, large commercial programs / projects
    • Included within the minimum 5 years’ experience listed above, the applicant must have:
      • At least 2 years experience managing resources, schedules, financials, issues and risks to ensure successful and on-time delivery on projects
      • At least 5 years’ demonstrated experience organizing and leading multi-disciplined teams
      • At least 5 years’ experience developing and presenting complex ideas to senior leadership
  • 10+ years of management/supervision experience in DoD in a plans, operations or intelligence related field/program
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
  • Current Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP) or Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) Level III Program Management certification.
  • Experience in managing operations and financials for Cost Plus Award Fee (CPAF), Time and Materials (T&M), and/or Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contracts
  • Experience interacting with and briefing senior government and industry leaders on topics related to programmatic, technology and financial status.
  • Demonstrated success in government project and personnel management (DoD preferred) through prior work experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently, taking initiative and leading teams to analyze and resolve problems
  • Excellent verbal, oral, interpersonal and written communication skills, including experience with developing and delivering presentations
  • Experience in interviewing/hiring candidates for all different position requirements
  • Experience in managing project finances to stay within budget
  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (especially Microsoft Excel) and SharePoint Collaborative tools
  • Must have an Active Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility after your start date. Note:  US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
