TheStreet, one of the fastest-growing business news sites in the U.S., has experienced 500% audience growth since 2021. We seek a talented writer who will focus on publicly-traded companies across consumer goods, retail, travel, autos, entertainment, technology, banking, housing, and more.
Writers who excel in a fast-paced, friendly environment that rewards high traffic content and have a proven multimillion page view per month track record are strongly encouraged to apply.
As a business news writer for TheStreet you will create engaging, share-worthy business content that educates and informs using the latest SEO best practices; adhere to article style guidelines; collaborate on relevant graphics for stories; and workshop article ideas for business news.
This is a freelance position with compensation based on article performance.

What You’ll Do:
The ideal candidate follows one or more of these areas and knows how to find the stories that aren’t being written. A writing approach that engages, educates, and informs readers is a must. Applicants should be able to write quickly and clearly. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is essential. An understanding of SEO best practices for journalism is a plus.
Write timely content on business news topics.
Assist in identifying potential stories by closely monitoring financial news sites, social media, Google, earnings releases, corporate conference calls, institutional research notes, and other sources.
Collaborate on compelling story ideas and concepts to expand audiences.
Provide intriguing and shareable insights and analysis that engages, educates, and informs.
Produce quality stories at a high volume.
Understand digital audiences, traffic sources across search and social, and how to capture those audiences using SEO best practices, including relating to headline construction.
What You’ll Bring:
2-5 years of experience in online financial journalism or a related field (preferred).
High-volume writer who can do 3-5 stories in a day.
Possesses a strong understanding of the online media landscape.
Strong editorial and communication skills.
Comfortable with a fast-paced virtual newsroom.
