We are seeking a Front-End Developer to enhance digital services for a federal customer. This role focuses on creating accessible, user-friendly interfaces that comply with federal accessibility standards and best practices. The ideal candidate will have experience with human-centered design, accessibility compliance, and front-end performance optimization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop responsive, accessible front-end components using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js)
Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1+, Section 508, and plain language best practices
Conduct automatic and manual accessibility testing to identify and remediate issues
Optimize front-end performance for cloud-based applications
Implement US Web Design System (USWDS) components for consistent, user-friendly experiences
Collaborate with UI designers, back-end developers, and accessibility experts
Work within agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) to deliver iterative improvements
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field is required.
7+ years of front-end development experience with a focus on accessibility and usability
Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks and state management libraries
Strong knowledge of ARIA, screen readers, and accessibility auditing tools (Axe, JAWS, WAVE, Lighthouse)
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks helpful but not required
US Web Design System (USWDS) experience is a plus
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Fully remote from anywhere in the continental United States, with occasional in-person meetings in Washington, D.C. Employees will operate in a fully remote environment, with occasional in-person meetings in Washington, D.C., depending on project needs. This job is for a contract proposal that is expected to be awarded in June 2025.
