Job description

The Utility Data Analyst role at Medxcel is designed for individuals passionate about data analysis, process development, and automated solutions aimed at boosting utility bill management (UBM) capabilities through innovative solutions. This position entails analyzing large data sets, enhancing system reporting, and utilizing innovative tools to drive UBM services. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the ability to influence and collaborate strategically to utility providers and client facing stakeholders with limited management oversight.  Additionally, role will contribute significantly to our technological and operational strategies.

This role will report to the Manager, Supply Side and will work as an integrated team member within the Medxcel Energy Team to support UBM platform transition and then ongoing duties as assigned associated with utility bill management.

This position is Remote. 

Responsibilities:
Utility Data Analytics (70%)
  • UBM Data Management: Work independently and within a larger cohort to support UBM integration, process, and reporting.
  • Utility Data Analysis: Leverage advanced data analysis tools to delve into utility data, uncovering patterns and insights that inform utility and energy type decisions and enhance process efficiencies.
  • Error recovery: Ability and willingness to evaluate and recover invoicing errors from suppliers via telephone, video conferencing and email communication.
  • Database management: Collaboration with 3rd party supplier and clients.
  • Data Modeling: Develop and refine predictive models that forecast utility spend rates, volumes, and weather predicted data to improve decision-making with utility services.

 

Stakeholder Engagement (20%)

 

  • Technical Liaison: Assit as a technical liaison among IT, operations, and other departments to ensure the seamless integration of technological strategies into daily utility operations.
  • Educational Workshops: Actively participate in training sessions and workshops to raise awareness among non-technical stakeholders about the benefits and applications of data analysis and understanding protocols.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster collaboration across different business units, enhancing operational alignment and sharing best practices related to data management and operations.
  • Strategic Meetings Participation: Actively participate in strategy meetings and workshops, providing insights from an operational data perspective to influence organizational decisions.

 

Innovation and Technological Advancement ( 10%)

 

  • Innovative Operational Integrations: Drive innovation by exploring and adopting new tools and applications that provide strategic advantages in operational processes.
  • Automated Operational Solutions: Develop and deploy various tools and systems to automate routine tasks, enhance predictive analytics capabilities, and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Engaging Stakeholders: Collaborate with organizational leaders to identify and pursue technological advancements that align with and support Medxcel’s strategic business objectives, focusing on significant improvements in safety and customer experience.
  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel about 10% of the time, with potential fluctuations depending on business needs, to support and advance technological initiatives.

 

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Associates degree or equivalent with relevant work experience - required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent - preferred. 

                    

Experience:   

  • 1 to 3 years experience in business analysis, healthcare management, or related educational background - required. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to use Microsoft suite of products and present complex information clearly and objectively to client facing interactions - required. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Detailed Oriented: Ability to work independently with large data sets and maintain quality of data.
  • MS EXCEL: Work efficiently with EXCEL and develop data base tools and outputs from EXCEL.
  • Good communication skills: Demonstrated telephone communication skills and willingness to proactively initiate conversations to research and resolve issues.
  • Proactive: Level-headed with negotiating and de-escalating skills in potential adversarial situations (vendor error cost recovery). Demonstrated ability to develop, improve and adhere to standard operating procedures, specifically focused on data integrity and communication documentation.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves utility issues promptly while accurately analyzing information. Ability to tackle problems effectively with a focus on enhancing process efficiency.
  • Advanced Analytical Skills: Possesses strong analytical capabilities to manage and interpret utility data, utilizing various analytical tools and metrics to drive process improvements and strategic decisions.
  • Quality Management: Dedicated to enhancing the quality of UBM process. Demonstrates a strong commitment to accuracy and thoroughness in analyzing operational data and implementing quality controls.
  • Planning/Organizing: Excels in planning and organizing tasks, utilizing time effectively to develop realistic action plans for operational enhancements.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication abilities and proficient interaction skills across all organizational levels. Capable of training and guiding key personnel on using technology, tools, and operations-related processes.
  • Advanced Proficiency with Technology: Skilled in using MS Office Suite, Large Language and Generative Models, and an understanding of UBM software, applying these tools to optimize operational tasks and data management of over 5,000 unique accounts per month.
