The Role

We are looking for a contractor Data Engineer who shares the same values of pragmatism, professionalism and transparency that we do.

You will use various methods to transform raw data into useful information systems. For example, you’ll create algorithms and conduct statistical analysis, build and maintain data pipelines and APIs to expose models, architect data solutions with scalability and performance in mind, etc.

To succeed in this data engineering position, you should have strong analytical, communication and teamwork skills and the ability to make an effective use of cloud services and data science related frameworks and libraries to deliver solutions.

Overall, you’ll work on aligning data needs and solutions with business goals and enable the delivery of well-crafted software.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architectures and data models
  • Analyze and assemble large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and NoSQL databases, AWS, Azure or GCP technologies
  • Build analytics tools for both business and data scientists
  • Provide and generate actionable insights from data around business performance metrics and report on them
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support data infrastructure needs
  • Help in the implementation of algorithms and prototypes
  • Enhance data quality and reliability
  • Collaborate with data scientists, architects and the rest of the business and engineering team to successfully deliver projects

Requirements

  • Excellent level of English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Database systems like SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, CosmosDB, Redis, MSSQL, MySQL…)
  • Data warehousing solutions (Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, etc.)
  • ETL tools (Data Factory, Databricks, Amazon EMR, Hadoop, Spark, etc.)
  • Machine learning (Tensorflow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, etc.)
  • Data APIs (Knowledge of OData, GraphQL, as well as frameworks like FastAPI, Flask etc.)
  • Programming skills (preferably Python, Java and Scala)
  • Understanding the basics of distributed systems
  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures
  • Ideally a master's degree in data engineering
