Position Overview:

SHR Consulting Group is seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions for a government agency. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience, a deep understanding of cloud security and compliance (FedRAMP, NIST, FISMA), and expertise in automation, identity management, and infrastructure optimization. In this role, you will play a key part in building and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient AWS cloud environments to support mission-critical applications.

 

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Cloud Infrastructure & Automation

  • Manage AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, Lambda, CloudFormation, and CloudTrail.
  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for provisioning and automating cloud resources.
  • Utilize Python, PowerShell, or Bash for scripting and automation.

 Security & Compliance

  • Ensure AWS environments adhere to FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FIPS 140-2 standards.
  • Implement AWS Identity & Access Management (IAM), SSO, MFA, and role-based security.
  • Work closely with security teams to ensure cloud solutions meet compliance and security benchmarks.

 Operations & Optimization

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize cloud performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability.
  • Design high-availability, scalable, and fault-tolerant AWS cloud architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support cloud strategy, platform integration, and operations.

 Networking & Containerization

  • Configure AWS networking components, including VPC, VPN, Public/Private Subnets, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, and CDN.
  • Work with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon ECS/EKS) to enhance cloud deployments.

 Incident & Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate risks through effective incident and problem management processes.
  • Support the continuous improvement of AWS cloud environments through performance tuning and security enhancements.

 

Skill Requirements: 

  • AWS Expertise: Hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure in a government or enterprise environment.
  • Security & Compliance: Strong knowledge of FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, FISMA, FIPS 140-2 compliance frameworks.
  • Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for cloud automation.
  • Identity Management: Experience with AWS IAM, SSO, MFA, and role-based access controls.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar IaC tools.
  • Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of virtual networking, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Containerization: Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS/EKS.
     

 

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

 

Experience: 

  • Must have 5 years or more experience
