Role Overview :

Role:

The Senior Data Analyst will focus on pre-processing large, often disparate, data sets in order to identify opportunities for additional campaigns to answer large and complex internal or external questions.  Strong technical skills as well as an acumen for data visualization allowing for rapid resolution and answers of common questions.  Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.  

The Senior Data Analyst will have expertise working with high volumes of structured data (and ideally unstructured as well) in a cloud environment, experiment design, building ETL and data aggregation tools.  The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar function at another high-performance company. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to “data wrangle” known or new data sources by examining data, cleanse/prepare it as needed by removing duplicates, identifying and correcting illogical entries, and creating KPIs and compound metrics  used to evaluate the effectiveness and “tell the story” of each campaign
  • Designing, measuring, and interpreting A/B tests 
  • Develop ETL processes to pre-process data to ensure that ad-hoc questions can be answered rapidly
  • Be the analytic expert on all data sources, attributes and internal tools  for the organization as it relates to answering ad-hoc questions 
  • Continually innovate and enhance ROI and performance computations to create additional insights from business KPIs such as revenue or conversion lift
  • Create compelling and uncluttered data visualizations in presentations and dashboards allowing for a clear understanding of the overall story
  • Balance multiple projects and accompanying timelines 
  • Work collaboratively within members of multiple teams to meet aggressive goals and pre-defined measurement criteria
  • Develop requirements of more common requests to be implemented in the product for automated access
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the data through effective quality assurance processes.


Key Skills

  • Expertise with Python  and/or other open source analytic languages is  critical
  • Expertise with SQL and/or other database querying languages critical
  • Understanding and working knowledge of at least one BI tool, such as Tableau, with experience in data visualization techniques
  • Experience working with large data sets, ideally in a cloud environment such as AWS.  
  • And ideal candidate would also have experience designing, measuring and interpreting A/B tests in an ecommerce environment

Ancillary Skills

  • Attention to detail to identify gaps in information (e.g. data definitions not clear/missing) and resourcefulness and confidence to track down the necessary information 
  • Ability and willingness to collaborate and brainstorm with internal teams to identify opportunities and solutions
  • Strong organizational and oral / written communication skills to lead or facilitate discussions over the phone and with remote teams

Education and Qualification

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, ideally in a marketing or ecommerce environment or an analytically-driven role (analytics, consulting, e-commerce, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL and/or experience with Python or R
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of A/B testing
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex data findings into actionable business strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally and influence both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment
