About the role

Let’s start with the basics: what will your role actually involve? While it’s tough to detail every single aspect – particularly in a growing company like Bookboost – here’s a snapshot:

As the first Data Engineering hire at Bookboost, you will play a key role in designing and implementing our infrastructure as we scale from 100s of GBs to TBs of data which needs to be moved, transformed and made available to our frontend application and machine learning pipelines.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn, grow and experiment with the latest technologies to serve hospitality industry-first use cases spanning both the analytical and machine learning domains.

What you’ll own and deliver:

• Collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Developing, deploying, and monitoring data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage at high scale.
• Designing and implementing tools and abstractions on top of data infrastructure for a variety of analytics, recommendations, and machine learning use cases.
• Designing and maintaining data orchestration and streaming pipelines.
• Working closely with product teams to develop reusable data resources and design patterns.

What makes you a great fit?

We’re looking for someone who brings the following to the table:

• 4+ years of industry experience in data engineering.
• Strong programming and data engineering skills, with proficiency in distributed data processing preferred (AWS, PySpark).
• Strong quantitative skills with experience in estimating performance at high scale.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data services (e.g., AWS, RDS), containerized infrastructure (e.g., ECS, Docker), and data movement (Batch, CDC, Streamed/Batch Transformations).
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership of systems and designs.
