Job description

This is a remote position.

  • Contract type: Independent Contractor
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday, 9AM to 6PM Melbourne VIC
  • Includes 1hour unpaid break

The key role is:

- Supporting the purchasing function by updating and maintaining product data and supplier relations

- Support a large project to update product data for 4000+ sku’s

- Supporting the purchasing managers with supplier product changes, price changes, new products

- Supporting the purchasing managers by organising supplier meetings, supplier performance reviews, meeting notes

- Conducting price reviews against the market

- Sourcing or working with our partners to source and develop new home brand products

- Maintaining our replenishment of imported products, reviewing weekly to determine orders

- Working with finance, suppliers and freight forwarder to manage container imports including document management, QC, container unloading, stock distribution

- Working with our stores to manage stock and clearance of product



Requirements

  • Proven experience in procurement and merchandising, preferably in the garden supplies or related industry
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with various ERP systems
  • Sharp analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and data interpretation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective supplier negotiations
  • Strong understanding of supply chain fundamentals, including purchase orders and container logistics
  • Ability to work independently and contribute strategic insights to drive business growth
  • Adaptability to work with different ERP systems and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Problem-solving mindset with a track record of implementing process improvements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • Comfortable working remotely and managing time effectively in a flexible work environment
  • Fast working, more proactive and experienced in buying, supply chain, vendor management. Strong excel skills, ERP (odoo if possible).
