Job Description:

Summary
Supports one or more of Ryder's operating systems, servers, storage systems, virtual systems and/or cloud technologies by providing technical expertise in the development of strategic planning, technical design and implementation of the system(s) assigned and supported. Provides planning, design, knowledge, leadership and implementation for the system strategy development, projects, initiatives and solutions. Participates, leads, consults or provides technical guidance on multiple and/or large complex projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for the technology(s)/system(s) supported.

Essential Functions
  • Gives expert guidance in the analysis design and deployment of the IT infrastructure platform, including system software, utilities and hardware. Participates in the decision making of the overall systems architecture, applications and their respective priorities. Defines or reviews design and implements overall architectures for platform(s) and application(s) supported.
  • Provides technical expertise for multiple and complex projects. Serves as a project lead, project member or administrative support. Identifies and implements solutions to problems while assessing and communicating technological issues impacting business. Develops technical and business relationships and integrates activities with others to ensure successful implementation and support of project efforts. Ensures the success and timeliness of all system and application rollouts/deliverables.
  • Develops, modifies and documents the framework, blueprint, standards and guidelines that drive the design of system, application solutions and the integration of multiplatform computer infrastructure (e.g., rules and constraints for all components going into the system platform). Identifies conflicting business practices and integration issues and suggest alternative solutions.
  • Conducts business reviews, documents current systems, documents business requirements and develops recommendations for future state, including recommendations on how to proceed with applications and infrastructure that support processing requirements. Performs feasibility studies and translates requirements into an appropriate design.
  • Reviews, advises and designs standards software and hardware build, system options, risk, cost versus benefit and the impact of on the business process and objectives.
  • Maintains track of industry trends, new technologies and system(s) enhancements. Participates with others in new product reviews, tests and pilots. Actively participates in technical reviews.
  • Examines and evaluates hardware, operating systems, tools, utilities and recommends course of action to management.
  • Participates, installs or maintains systems software, utilities and hardware platforms.

  • Broad conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies in mainframe, midrange and PC computing environments desirable; in-depth experience in one or more is criticalExcellent technical knowledge of current software, applications, network, protocols and standards Depending on the technology supported, technical knowledge may include one or more of the following: MS Window Server, Citrix Zen Server, HP-UX, AIX, Linux, VMWare, Hyper-V, Client Server, SAN & NAS Storage, LAN & WAN networking, Internet, information security, disaster recovery and monitoring tools advanced required
  • Solid understanding of safe work practices and related company policies advanced required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or Business Information Services.
  • Master's degree preferred Masters Degree preferred or equivalent work experience and technical training.
  • Five (5) years or more 5+ years of relevant work experience with demonstrated technical expertise in supporting complex computer platforms. required
  • Seven (7) years or more 7 years of infrastructure management and support. required
  • Three (3) years or more Experience with automation via industry standard scripting and/or development languages/toolkits desired. preferred
  • Three (3) years or more Experience in the industry or in a production/service environment similar to that of the employer is highly preferred. preferred
  • Knowledge of project management techniques (cross-functional experience) intermediate required

Compensation Information:

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:

110,000.00
