As a Director of Data Engineering, you’ll lead teams of data professionals who design, develop and implement scalable data platform capabilities including data ingestion and transformation from source systems into the organization’s data platform for both analytical and operational use cases. Possessing practical knowledge and experience of data engineering, you’ll help ensure our technology and techniques meet our evolving data needs. You’ll foster a culture of engineering and operational excellence in your team. You’ll assist with strategic planning, implement those plans with your teams, and invest in the development of the team leaders and team members in your organization.

About the Role

  • Work with senior leadership to implement the strategic plan for the team
  • Meet business stakeholders, product and technology partners to ensure delivery of business value
  • Ensure adoption of modern engineering practices and drive operational excellence in teams
  • Support the execution efforts of the teams by facilitating collaboration and removing roadblocks
  • Work with architects and leaders to ensure scalability, reliability and performance of data solutions
  • Use experience and knowledge to provide direction to the team and guide them toward effective problem solving
  • Foster a culture of innovation with system and design thinking
  • Champion prioritizing and mitigating business impacting technology incidents and driving incident management best practices
  • Strategically tie threads with senior leadership between business domains, product stakeholders, cross-team relationships and cross-train relationships through extensive knowledge and understanding of business processes
  • Support their team members/direct report leaders on their performance and career development goals
  • Assist teams in capturing and breaking down delivery of more complex requests that require coordination between teams
  • Stay up to date on emerging data technology trends and facilitate research and experimentation

About You

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field
  • 5 years of experience or equivalent expertise working in data engineering, including cloud data services stack, databases, SQL, , data integration,Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) and modern data ingestion technologies
  • 3 years of experience in data engineering using cloud data platforms, such as data lakes or warehouses
  • Experience with integration platforms, such as Informatica Cloud, Azure Data Factory, or Informatica Power Center
  • Experience building data models for visualization products, such as Tableau or PowerBI
  • Experience with using work item tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps
  • Understanding of Data modeling including data quality and transformation, and data warehousing concepts like dimensional modeling 
  • Understanding of the technology processes such as SDLC using Agile methodology, testing approaches and software release management 
  • Understanding of data ingestion and consumption patterns
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines
  • Conceptual understanding of supported business areas

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in data engineering, working with data platforms including cloud data lake, cloud data warehouse as a senior developer, engineer, or architect
  • 5 years of experience leading teams of direct reports or external service providers 
  • Understanding of data integration approaches including data ingestion and transformation, and data warehousing concepts like dimensional modeling
  • Experience working in a DevOps environment and understanding of service management concepts including ITIL 
  • Knowing Experience of people leadership practices, such as change management, recruiting, hiring, performance management, corrective action and compensation administration 
  • Understanding of databases and servers
  • 5 years of management, leadership and administration experience

Colorado, New York City, Jersey City, California, D.C and Washington Candidates only: the salary range for this position is one hundred forty-two thousand five hundred dollars to three hundred twenty thousand five hundred dollars. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus and other employment-related benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401K retirement plan, and paid-time off.  More information regarding these benefits and others can be found here.  The information regarding compensation and other benefits included in this paragraph is only an estimate and is subject to revision from time to time as the Company, in its sole and exclusive discretion, deems appropriate.
