Overview:
Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition (MFFC) grew out of an effort to draw on the wonderful ethnic and cultural diversity of the Mattapan community to promote a healthy living environment, with a focus on access to healthy foods and the promotion of physical fitness for all ages. Positive changes in these areas complement other efforts to decrease health problems like diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other health conditions that plague our community. MFFC is a fiscally sponsored organization of TSNE.

Responsibilities:
The Development & Communications Coordinator plays a key role in supporting fundraising, donor and partner engagement, development initiatives, and general marketing communication needs. This position assists with grant writing, donor communications, event planning, and database management to help achieve the organization’s financial and strategic goals. This role is also responsible for bringing awareness to the mission and vision of Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition through digital and physical communication channels through various marketing and communications strategies.
Essential Functions
Marketing & Communications
- Lead and work with program staff and Development Manager to create and execute marketing and communication strategies
- Lead and collaborate with website developers, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, copywriters, and/or program staff to design marketing materials for Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition's programs including fliers, brochures, one pagers, blogs, website, newsletters, social media, press releases, & event invitations
- Update and maintain the organization’s brand guide and standards.
- Manage the organization’s photo library and other digital assets.
- Lead the production of our bi-weekly newsletter by collaborating with program staff and designing the newsletter using Constant Contact.
- Co-Lead in the creation of our annual reports.
- Produce and manage web content and maintenance of the website to reach potential donors, clients, and partners.
Social Media
- Own the day-to-day management of social media as key stakeholder in the social media process, including meetings and recaps
- Build and implement a social media strategy across media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok and create action plans to grow engagement and followers
- Craft engaging and original social media posts to promote the mission and activities of the Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition and ensure they are scheduled to be posted in a timely manner.
- Support us in being a thought-leader and advocate on current food and fitness related issues.
- Develop responsive and collaborative social media campaigns.
- Monitor and analyze social media metrics to assess the performance of campaigns.
Development
- Assist in planning and executing fundraising events, including logistics, invitations, and follow-ups.
- Support community engagement initiatives to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Coordinate volunteer engagement efforts related to fundraising activities.
- Support with copy for development strategies
- Support our fundraising efforts by creating engaging marketing materials.
- Assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to meet financial goals.
- Research and identify grant opportunities; assist in writing and submitting grant proposals.
- Maintain donor databases, ensuring accurate records of contributions and communications.
- Coordinate donor appreciation efforts, including thank-you letters, reports, and recognition events.
- Support corporate sponsorship outreach and partnership development.
- Prepare reports on fundraising progress and donor engagement for leadership and board members.
- Support in partnership development
Overall & Administrative
- Meet with the Development Manager on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
- Occasionally provide supervision to interns supporting marketing, communications, and graphic design work
- Support the organization in internal communication structure
- Provide support in organizing logistics for virtual meetings
- Attend MFFC events to capture content to inform MFFC branded marketing and communication materials
- Attend community events and meetings to gain a deeper understanding of the organization and those we serve

Qualifications:

- Committed to the mission of MFFC
- Experience and understanding of how cultural values, identities, and socioeconomic status can shape experiences in our programs and in our communities.
- Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, marketing, communications, or a related field, or 2-3 years of experience in related fields
- Strong writing and communication skills, especially for donor engagement, partner engagement, and grant writing.
- Computer Skills: proficient with Microsoft Office, including Power Point, Excel, and Word. Proficient with G-Suite, Dropbox, Wix, Constant Contact, and Canva
- Deep knowledge of all social media platforms and the ability to learn
- Demonstrated ability to manage many deadlines, projects, and relationships
- Can effectively communicate across levels within an organization (i.e., with Executive Leadership, members of the Board and across different departments).
- Experience using social media for advocacy and/or in a professional setting
- Comfortable working in a virtual environment from a home office if you choose to work from home
- Bilingual in Haitian Creole and/or Spanish preferred

Compensation and Benefits
Location: Work will be primarily performed in Mattapan, MA. This position is hybrid - work is eligible for some remote work.
Compensation: The hourly range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hour and is commensurate with experience.
