Position Summary

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for architecting, maintaining and securing our application deployment, configuration management and system/application monitoring development in a growing complex environment.  The DevOps Engineer will be working with our Systems and Development teams on architecting efficient and redundant systems as well as automating workflows, enhancing system reliability, and ensuring a scalable and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing, implementing, operate, and maintaining a full suite of local and cloud-based services alongside with the systems team.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure automated and efficient deployment processes.
  • Architect and maintain a deployment standard to be used by the development team.
  • Provide an automated deployment process environment to support rapid development and deployment.
  • Develop custom application and system monitoring and knowledge of monitoring systems (e.g. WhatsUp Gold).
  • Monitor, maintain, design and optimize cloud-based infrastructure for performance, scalability, and security.
  • Assist in troubleshooting server, systems and application issues.
  • Work with the QA Development team to design automated testing of applications within the deployment process.
  • Automate repetitive tasks such as system provisioning, application deployment, and monitoring.
  • Create, oversee and test deployment security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery).
  • Keep an open line of communication with the development staff to support their needs.
  • Maintain complete technical application deployment and system configuration documentation.
  • Suggest improvements to applications and systems to support monitoring.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Requirements and Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of DevOps Engineer or similar software engineering role.
  • Proficient with deployment and CI tools.
  • Working knowledge of databases and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure) and associated services.
  • Strong knowledge of non cloud based platforms and servers. (e.g., Windows server, Ubuntu Linux)
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, and system administration.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and container orchestration.
  • Experience in MS and Linux based development languages (e.g., C#, .net, PowerShell, SQL, JavaScript).
  • Proficient with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby).
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git
  • Expertise in infrastructure automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools.
  • Experience in enterprise-level monitoring tools for measuring application and system performance, and full environment reliability (e.g. SolarWinds, WhatsUpGold).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
