Salary: Up to £40,000 per year depending on experience

The Role:
As a Learning Experience Designer (LXD) within our Curriculum Team, you'll collaborate with Directors of Curriculum and academic module leads to design learning experiences across all programmes. You'll use established learning design frameworks to support curriculum development, create tailored learning activities including live workshops, assist with the design of formative and summative assessments, and ensure all content is engaging and constructively aligned. You'll apply user experience (UX) principles to create learning journeys that connect academic theory with workplace application.

About You:
You understand how people learn and bring that insight into every design decision to balance cognitive load and create meaningful engagement. For you, accessibility isn't just a checklist - it's fundamental to good design. Your expertise in Rise 360 (and/or other tools) allows you to transform complex academic content into engaging digital experiences that work for diverse learner groups.

You thrive on curriculum mapping and assessment design, using frameworks to create coherent learning journeys. Meeting deadlines is your norm, and you excel at balancing multiple priorities while maintaining quality.

You excel at working with subject matter experts and take a learner-first approach, questioning assumptions about traditional online learning. Your curiosity about learning design and digital education trends is balanced with a practical approach to what truly serves learners.

Your strong instructional writing and visual design skills, combined with your ability to use data to improve learning experiences, make you an ideal candidate. If you're passionate about making exceptional educational products, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop engaging online learning experiences aligned with learning outcomes
  • Create high quality asynchronous learning content using various digital tools and platforms
  • Review and analyse learner and colleague feedback and performance data to inform iterative improvements
  • Support Module Leaders in the design of synchronous active learning e.g. virtual workshops
  • Create resources and guidance to support delivery workshop content
  • Support robust assessment strategies aligned with academic standards and apprenticeship requirements
  • Work collaboratively with subject matter experts, academic teams, and professional skills support teams
  • Design learning experiences that support and enhance our 1:1 coaching model
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes and documentation

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in learning design for online education
  • Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and active learning methodologies
  • Experience designing live learning activities
  • Ability to interpret and act on learner feedback and performance data
  • Experience with multimedia content creation
  • Experience creating engaging digital learning content using authoring tools
  • Experience with virtual learning environments and digital learning tools
  • Strong project management, collaboration and organisational skills

Desirable:
  • Advance HE Fellowship (or willingness to undertake)
  • PGCHE or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience in apprenticeship or work-based learning
  • Understanding of UK higher education sector frameworks
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs)
  • Expertise in learning analytics and data-informed design
  • Experience in assessment design and quality assurance processes
  • Experience of using AI for learning design
  • Understanding of OfS regulatory framework and QAA quality baseline as they relate to online learning experiences
  • Experience using Rise 360
