Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls with empathy and professionalism, addressing patient concerns and scheduling emergency dental appointments
  • Utilize Dentrix Ascend software to efficiently manage patient records and appointment scheduling
  • Gather and record essential patient information, including personal details and insurance data, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Verify insurance coverage and clearly explain cost estimates to patients, helping them understand their financial responsibilities
  • Manage after-hours calls, expertly triaging dental emergencies and booking appointments for the next available time slot
  • Handle pharmacy-related inquiries and coordinate seamlessly with the office manager or dentist as needed
  • Provide clear, concise information about emergency dental procedures and post-treatment care, enhancing patient understanding and comfort
  • Ensure strict HIPAA compliance in all patient interactions and data handling, maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality
  • Collaborate with on-site staff to coordinate urgent patient care needs, ensuring a smooth transition from virtual to in-person care
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on clinic procedures, software updates, and best practices in emergency dental care

Requirements
  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist, ideally in a dental or emergency care setting
  • Proficiency in Dentrix Ascend software, with the ability to navigate and utilize its features effectively
  • Exceptional phone etiquette and customer service skills, with a calm and reassuring demeanor
  • Strong multitasking abilities and meticulous attention to detail, crucial for managing high-pressure situations
  • Thorough understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining certification
  • Flexibility to work weekend shifts, including overnight hours, to provide 247 coverage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, professional home office environment
  • Adaptability and quick thinking to handle various dental emergencies and patient concerns
