Job description

Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance (QA) member assists in creating, executing, and documenting the tests necessary to ensure software applications meet requirements (functional and non-functional) and that defects are identified and logged. The work of the Quality Assurance (QA) member is performed under the guidance of the Quality (QA) Consultant or a Group Lead.  This role ensures that quality standards are met and adhered to by using their knowledge of quality assurance methodology, tools, and techniques.  The Quality Assurance (QA) member will resolve, document and report to management all identified quality problems.

Essential Functions: In addition to working as prescribed in our Performance Factors specific responsibilities of this role include:

  • Exceptional at all duties below the level of Quality Assurance Consultant.
  • Clear understanding of front and back-end processes to test full functionality of application.
  • Comfortable adapting to changes.
  • Raises questions and clarifies concerns over design and functionality based on reported defects.
  • Reviews test plans and validates test cases.
  • Demonstrates a good track record of troubleshooting challenging issues.
  • Demonstrates leadership by providing input into design discussions and mentoring other staff. 
  • Understands how the development process fits into the larger company goal of providing quality software with predictability.     
  • Takes ownership by proactively working to improve development quality and processes.   
  • Communicates application details well to both those familiar and not familiar with the application.
  • May manage regressions and regression test suites.
  • Ability to assist with build and installer processes as appropriate to platform.
  • May execute, review results from and write automated tests as appropriate to platform.
  • May select test cases to be included in automation as appropriate to platform.
  • Solid understanding of complex tasks of our products and processes.
  • Ability to monitor system logs and other computer issues.
  • Understanding of system architecture.
  • Acts as SME.
  • In depth industry, company, and product knowledge.
  • May develop new testing tools and processes to achieve QA goals.
  • Implement continuous process improvements to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Understands how new products will interact with existing functionality and develops appropriate test cases.
  • Identify gaps and recommend release process improvements.
  • Keeps up with external technology trends and evaluates how they might apply internally.
  • Responsible for leading or participating in QA process initiatives.
  • Proposes and/or initiates new technological directions as it relates to quality-related processes.

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Experience/Certification Requirements

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to follow through on issues to resolution.
  • Must be able to act both independently and as a team member.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or course work emphasis in programming and/or system design.
  • 8 to 15 years of experience in the field.
  • Experience on an Agile team producing web-based, n-tier applications.
  • Strong computer skills, general knowledge of SQL databases and familiarity with QA test management applications such as Qmetry, TestRail, XRAY.
  • Experience with working with offshore testing teams.
  • Experience with test automation and performance testing tools.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry.
