The School of Nursing and Health Sciences invites candidates to apply for a tenure track position at Vermont State University in the Department of Nursing, with primary teaching responsibilities in the asynchronous online Master's of Science in Nursing Program. The Master's of Science in Nursing Program is in its third year of educating future nurse leaders, and we are excited to have an experienced nurse educator join the team. This full-time faculty appointment will begin in academic year 2025-2026.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility is to teach in and coordinate the Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program. This program consists of two tracks: (a) nurse educator track, and (b) clinical nurse leader, both tracks prepare the student for certification exams in the respective specialty. The Program is offered year-round in the asynchronous online modality. Adherence to online education best practices, established by VTSU, is necessary. Coordination of this program requires year-round collaboration with prospective students, current students, and other stakeholders to ensure a high-quality education and practicum experience. This program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the program coordinator will lead all efforts required by the accrediting agency and the Vermont State Board of Nursing. A student-centered approach to advising and commitment to university teaching excellence, scholarship, and service to the department and university are required.
As a Full-time faculty in the MSN Program, this individual will have an important role in establishing, revising, and managing the program curriculum as part of the faculty governance structure to ensure that students successfully meet expected program outcomes. Planning and developing classes, including course syllabi and all online content is an expectation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must possess a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) in nursing, or health related discipline from an accredited institution. An unencumbered Vermont registered nurse license. Have demonstrated at least three years of full-time teaching experience in an accredited institute of higher education; demonstrated competence in graduate level teaching; demonstrated asynchronous online teaching experience; demonstrated understanding of CCNE accreditation standards and competency-based education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Online teaching certificate/certification. Proficiency in Canvas, the Learning Management System utilized at Vermont State University. Experience at an institute of higher education in a leadership position (Department Chair, Director, Coordinator, Course lead, etc.).
