Job Description Summary

Under direction of the Payroll Manager, this position is responsible for processing the day-to-day payroll functions. This position responsible for processing the payroll on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.


Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process end to end multi-state payroll on a bi-weekly basis in accordance with internal procedures timely and accurately.
  • Receive, research, and execute Workday payroll cases timely and accurately.
  • Process on-demand requests, reversals, and manual checks as needed.
  • Utilize payroll systems such as UKG and Workday for efficient payroll processing.
  • Conduct payroll audits as outlined in internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and report any discrepancies to the Payroll Manager.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in payroll data by leveraging intermediate Excel skills.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) on payroll-related matters, including time management, absences, and terminations.
  • Partner with third-party vendors on payroll tax items, including applying for state and/or local Employer Tax IDs as well as quarterly and year-end processing.
  • Work with third-party vendors to ensure that wage garnishments are entered and processed accurately and timely.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to reconcile payroll processing items.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders involved in the payroll process.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of city, state, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement to streamline payroll operations and enhance team efficiency.
  • Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
  • Provides quality customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Adheres to the absence policy, as outlined by management.
  • Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or another related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of related payroll processing experience, to include;
    • Knowledge of basic payroll functions
    • Experience with mid- to large-size organizations (>500 employees)
    • Intermediate MS Excel knowledge, including proficiency with Vlookups, pivot tables, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience with Workday Platform

PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Office work environment
  • Travel: <5%
  • 5+ hours per shift:  Sitting, handling, finger dexterity, pinching
  • Up to 3 hours per shift:   Standing, walking, pushing/pulling (up to 20 pounds), bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders, carrying/moving (up to 40 pounds), reaching waist to shoulder, reaching knee to waist, reaching floor to knee, grasping, lifting (up to 40 pounds)
