Job Summary

 

The Senior IT Project Manager & Scrum Master is responsible for leading and managing complex IT projects and driving the adoption of agile methodologies across cross-functional teams. This role combines traditional project management with Scrum Master responsibilities to guide teams through planning, development, and delivery phases, ensuring projects align with business goals and produce high-quality outcomes. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, agile coaching, and technical expertise to foster team empowerment, ensure on-time project delivery, and maintain clear alignment with stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

 

Project Management:

 

  • Plan, lead, and execute IT projects from initiation to completion, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful delivery.
  • Develop project plans and track project status, milestones, and key deliverables to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and issues while maintaining accountability for project scope, quality, and outcomes.
  • Regularly communicate project progress, risks, and changes to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment with business goals.

 

Scrum Master Responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as Scrum Master for multiple agile teams, facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Guide teams in the adoption of agile best practices and frameworks, including backlog refinement, sprint estimation, and prioritization.
  • Track and analyze team performance metrics (e.g., velocity, burndown charts) to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize delivery.
  • Actively work to remove impediments and blockers, ensuring smooth project progress and team productivity.

 

Team Leadership and Development:

 

  • Lead, mentor, and coach team members in agile and project management methodologies, promoting continuous improvement and skill development.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, empowering team members and ensuring accountability for project deliverables.
  • Foster strong collaboration and communication between development, QA, operations, and other IT teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Promote a positive, high-performing team culture focused on agile values and principles.

 

Stakeholder and Change Management:

 

  • Work closely with business units, product owners, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, prioritize features, and align on project scope.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by clearly communicating project timelines, challenges, and success criteria.
  • Implement change management practices to ensure project scope changes are tracked, communicated, and integrated effectively.

 

Process Improvement:

 

  • Drive continuous improvement in project management and agile processes, identifying areas for efficiency and effectiveness gains.
  • Facilitate lessons learned sessions and incorporate feedback to refine agile practices, optimize workflows, and improve team outcomes.
Education Requirement
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional), CSM (Certified Scrum Master), or equivalent certification required.
  • Additional agile certifications (e.g., PMI-ACP, SAFe) are a plus.
Experience Requirements

 

Experience: 

 

  • 7+ years of experience in IT project management, with a strong track record of delivering large, complex IT projects.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach, with proven success in leading agile transformations.
  • Experience in software development, cloud-based projects, or digital transformation is a strong advantage.

 

Technical Skills:

 

  • Proficiency in project management and agile tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Trello).
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, agile methodologies, and best practices in IT project management.

 

Key Skills:

 

  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with a focus on deadline-driven delivery.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentorship abilities, with the ability to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in stakeholder management, with a strong ability to translate technical details for business audiences.

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
