Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Engineer

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to use their expertise in Citrix, VMware Horizon, and Windows Server to design, implement, and manage our Citrix and Horizon VDI environments. You will ensure seamless performance, scalability, and security of our VDI solutions while collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to meet business needs. The position is located Stuttgart, Germany.

What You’ll Work On:

Design, deploy, and manage Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and VMware Horizon environments.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server systems, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Optimize VDI performance by monitoring resource utilization and implementing best practices for high availability and scalability.
Configure and manage VDI infrastructure components, including hypervisors, virtual machines, and storage.
Ensure the security of VDI environments through access controls, patch management, and endpoint protection solutions.
Automate routine tasks and deployments using scripting languages such as PowerShell.
Support VDI users by diagnosing and resolving technical issues and providing training as needed.
Maintain up-to-date documentation, including system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Collaborate with OPS teams to integrate VDI solutions with existing infrastructure and to implement new technologies.
Stay updated on VDI, Citrix, VMware, and Windows Server technologies to recommend and implement improvements.

You Have:

5+ years of experience managing Citrix, VMware, and Windows Server environments
Experience in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops and VMware Horizon solutions
Experience with Windows Server administration 2016, 2019, or 2022, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management
Experience with virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or Hyper-V
Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell for automation and management
Knowledge of networking concepts, including VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP
Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
Secret clearance
Bachelor’s degree

Nice If You Have:

Experience with storage technologies and their integration with VDI systems such as SAN or NAS
Experience with GPU acceleration technologies such as NVIDIA GRID
Experience with Zero Trust principles and their application in VDI environments
Knowledge of cloud-hosted VDI solutions such as Azure Virtual Desktop or Citrix Cloud
Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP-V), VMware Certified Professional - Desktop Management (VCP-DTM), or Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate Certification

Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,300.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
