The Target Associate Director contributes to Duracell’s success by leading and managing essential strategy and business development. We are searching for a highly talented and committed Leader with direct Target account management experience that can work with internal and external data and develop a story beneficial to drive category growth and profitability at Target for the company. Individual must have strong analytic and customer facing experience. Strong preference for a candidate with direct Target experience.
Responsibilities
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Principal accountabilities include Strategy Development and Business Plan Delivery, to meet/exceed financial targets. Account-specific goals include topline sales, dollar share growth, PNL ownership delivering OI, driving cost savings, forecast accuracy, SRM management, and promotional planning/execution. Individual must have strong analytic and customer facing experience.
Strategy Development
Leader of Target Omnichannel Strategy, merchandising plan, portfolio, and execution
Main point of contact for Target Buying & Roundel Teams (Buyer, planners, and JBP teams)
Develop, sell, implement, monitor, and execute Annual Merchandising Plan Strategy/Plan, including the tactics and activities that are part of annual JBP with Target.
Sells, negotiates, and executes Duracell’s initiatives with Target (new product launches, product transitions, brand restages, technology improvements, etc.)
Responsible for Target’s unit and dollar shipment forecast, serving as liaison between demand forecast and supply chain partners. Key contributor of Trade Flow for Target working with MS&P, demand planning and Retail Supply Leader.
Tracks and executes business-building strategic plans and account-specific programs to capitalize on opportunities and amplify merchandising activities.
Creates “Close the Gap” plans where/when required to deliver Target KPIs.
Deliver business plan to meet/exceed financial targets.
Delivers Target’s KPI’s such as Topline sales, item redlines, inline/online sales growth, store in stock, supply service KPI’s and execution.
Owner of Target P&L; responsible for growing Duracell’s Gross sales, net revenue, and operating Income, while continuously improving ROS.
Leads and collaborates with central and multifunctional teams to deliver customer´s KPI’s.
Works with finance partners, analyzes ROI on incremental opportunities investments required and creates the appropriate recommendations for approval.
Owns funding investment vs. plan to ensure budget adherence (Earn vs Burn)
Leads and manages third parties that are needed for Target’s business operations.
Deep analysis of consumption to identify new opportunities within Target or reapply opportunities from the market that will drive the business.
Responsible for Target Account Receivables, and trade fund payments ensuring all plans with Target are appropriately documented and timely paid or reconciled.
Skills Needed
Ability to develop strategic relationships and alignment both internally and externally
Must possess strong financial acumen to sell and communicate internally and externally.
Ability to lead and grow Target business.
Must be able to form relationships and work closely with business team/organization.
Ability to solve problems by interpreting a variety of information and identify a position while selling with conviction.
Travel: This position will require some travel. Estimate up to 25% travel.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 5 - 8 years of account management CPG sales experience. Preferred with Target.
Strong ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Syndicated data experience (IRI, Nielsen, NPD).
Excel experience with ability to manipulate data, create pivot tables, functions, and formulas.
PowerPoint experience with ability to create compelling, easy to understand, fact-based stories.
Proven track record of collaborating and working with a cross-functional organization.
Strong organizational ability.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Problem-solving skills and opportunity identification.
Empowering individual contributor/ leader, collaborator, and teammate.
The ability to portray a confident and winning attitude in challenging business interactions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and story-telling ability
Proven experience that reflects being results-oriented.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence outcomes with both internal and external contacts.
The ability to apply financial data to make decisions and influence outcome; understanding of financial metrics, including margins, retail math, forecast/projections, velocities, and other analytical skills not mentioned.
The ability to tell a holistic story versus taking a transactional approach.
