Description

Better Cotton is the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. Our mission: to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment. In difficult times, we are meeting the challenge head on. Through our network of field-level partners we have provided training on more sustainable farming practices to more than 2.9 million cotton farmers in 26 countries. More than a fifth of the world’s cotton is now grown under the Better Cotton Standard and our membership network includes more than 2,400 members.

Background

Better Cotton is committed to enhancing traceability and compliance across the Better Cotton supply chain to meet both industry expectations and emerging regulatory standards via the Better Cotton Standards System (BCSS) and the traceability solution. This initiative aligns with our voluntary standard practices and aims to support members in addressing compliance with key legislation, including but not limited to the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (EU), Green Claims Directive (EU) and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (EU).

We are seeking proposals from skilled individuals or organisations interested in conducting a comprehensive benchmarking and gap analysis of our traceability solution and the Better Cotton Standards System with key sustainability legislation. The consultant will provide actionable recommendations for compliance enhancements and develop effective positioning and messaging strategies to demonstrate how Better Cotton can support its members with their due diligence obligations and leverage the use of the traceability solution and Better Cotton Platform as a due diligence and compliance tool.

Our goal is to ensure our traceability solution and the BCSS support sustainable, compliant sourcing while allowing our retail partners and brands to meet regulatory and stakeholder requirements effectively.
