Job Summary
This role is responsible for educating, providing technical and process expertise to Paycor associates and clients. The Senior Tax Consultant must have advanced knowledge or Paycor systems, payroll taxes, tax legislation, agency websites and cross trained amongst 3 teams or more. The individual is responsible for accurate resolution of jurisdiction correspondence and for developing programs to drive Client retention and success.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Consult clients on resolving complex problems related to payroll taxes and agency tax filings
Build trusted relationship as a tax consultant and advisor
Resolve client questions expediently with a high level of service and communicate with them regarding tax activity and agency tax filings
Troubleshoot problems and research solutions to resolve Client tax questions and issues
Communicate with internal and external customers regarding tax inquiries
Follow up on tax issues to assure problem has been resolved and client or specialist communication/update has occurred
Communicate with internal and external customers regarding tax inquiries
Maintain and update work cases in Salesforce including progress and communication to customers
Set a positive work example for peers and influence a working environment that is energized and consistently demonstrates the Paycor service commitment
Ability to interface with multiple departments and clients to resolve concerns and make low-impact business decisions independently with little to no supervision
Identify and resolve issues as well as drive change for related system improvements
Organize and maintain all the reference documents based on agency rules and regulations
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax issues for federal and local taxing authorities
Identify and document problems and trends and recommend solutions to eliminate the same problem in the future
Actively participate as a member of the team and support other team members as needed, including fill in work for specialists as required
Educate Internal teams and clients issue resolution and best practices to ensure they remain tax compliant.
Build trusted relationship as a tax consultant and advisor
Identify ways to improve systems, processes, documentation, training, and internal communications
Assist Associates in explaining complex tax questions/edits to clients
Coach and mentor less experienced Consultants in all general tax, systems, and compliances processes
Lead process improvement initiatives that involve Tax processes and procedures; provide insights regarding how these changes impact the Tax Department, Paycor, and our clients
Attend key team meetings to pass on important information to manager/ team members
Provide backup assistance to other tax department teams as needed
Collaborate with teams to identify potential compliance tax issues
Requirements
4 years of prior Accounting, Business or Paycor experience preferred
Four-year degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience
5 years of payroll/ Tax experience preferred
Advanced knowledge amongst areas of employment tax processing (Tax Deposits, Return filing, Tax Notice, Adjustments/Amendments, etc.)
Ability to effectively solve problems by balancing detailed questions with creative solutions
Audit or tax reconciliation experience required
Expert knowledge of federal/state/local revenue and unemployment filing requirements
High technical aptitude: ability to adapt to frequent system and tool updates
Proven ability to work independently with little to no supervision
Demonstrated success with establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with clients and peers across multiple departments
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skill
Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office and SalesForce
Must be able to work extended hours as needed

We also offer competitive compensation determined by each individual's relevant experience, skills, and education. We anticipate the base pay for this position to be between $64,680-110,424. In addition to base pay, Paycor Associates are eligible for either a performance-based annual bonus or commission, depending on their position.
