Senior Software Engineer – Cloud Portals

Overview of Position:

As the key touchpoint of our customer experience, Speedcast's groundbreaking Compass Portal stands as a pivotal initiative propelling our journey towards becoming the premier leader in software-driven services within the industry. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both frontend and backend development, with a strong focus on JavaScript technologies. The Senior Software Engineer - Cloud Portals will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing innovative software solutions while leading a team of developers in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver new functionalities to our Compass Cloud Portal, a single-pane-of-glass experience for users.

Responsibilities:

• Frontend Development: Design and develop user interfaces using Vue.js, ensuring a seamless and responsive user experience.
• Backend Development: Build robust server-side applications using Node.js, leveraging AWS cloud solutions to deliver scalability and performance.
• Database Management: Work with various databases, with a preference for time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB, TimescaleDB) as well as traditional SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
• Agile Methodology: Participate in Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives) and help drive the team's Agile practices.
• Code Quality: Ensure high standards of code quality through code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to best practices.
• Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, advocating for best practices within the team.
  
  

Requirements:

Experience:

• 5+ years of software development experience with strong proficiency in JavaScript.
• Proven experience with front-end frameworks, particularly Vue.js.
• Solid backend development experience using Node.js.
• Familiarity with time-series databases and SQL databases.
  
  

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in RESTful API design and development.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Practiced in Agile methodologies
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is a plus.
  
  

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work collaboratively with non-technical teams
• Comfortable with stakeholders in different disciplines and regions
