JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of DCC will be responsible for leading the strategic relationship with one of Arqiva’s biggest customers – the Data Communications Company. You will develop the strategic roadmap in partnership with key DCC stakeholders and manage all the commercial aspects of the relationship between the customer and Arqiva

The role

  • Play an active role as part of the Smart Utilities Network Team, contributing thought leadership and role modelling best practice leadership behaviour.
  • A strategic thinker who can translate strategy into tangible plans, that are easy to articulate to both internal and external audiences.
  • Constructively challenge the business where appropriate, ensuring informed decision making and conscious risk management is exercised at all time.
  • As strategic lead for DCC, design and execute the strategy to deliver and develop the relationship with one of Arqiva’s biggest customers, managing all associated commercial activities, including associated negotiations to ensure we deliver value in line with Arqiva’s Long Term Plan.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the DCC Team within Commercial (approx. 10) and across the wider business (approx. 100), ensuring their development and motivation to achieve targets and key customer programme milestones.
  • Ensure effective and efficient ways of working internally and through interfaces with the customer, by actively providing clarity of accountability.
  • Ensure operational SLA’s and KPI’s are delivered through the Operational teams, to successfully achieve agreed customer outcomes.
  • Secure and successfully execute annual change requests of circa £15 million per annum in line with financial plans.
  • Ensure the DCC commercial team is set up for success in line with the overarching strategy and targets, evolving the shape of the team as appropriate and positively building on the employee engagement survey ‘Have your Say’ feedback.
  • Build and develop ongoing relationships and credibility with a complex blend of C-level stakeholders across the DCC, regulators, industry and partners, as well as government bodies including ESNZ.
  • In partnership with key DCC stakeholders, lead the creation of a mid to long-term roadmap supported by a clear product / service development strategy with associated investment and change plans while securing the optimum allocation of internal resource to deliver. As part of this, ensure the customer’s goals and strategy are incorporated into Arqiva’s product and technology roadmap.
  • Working with the SRM and procurement teams, lead the strategic relationships with key supply partners, ensuring performance in respect of DCC is closely managed and clear evaluation criteria is in place.
  • Accountable for ensuring DCC customer satisfaction is kept at a high level, implementing restorative actions as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills to facilitate, lead and contribute to working groups / steering groups across the business, with the ability to engage and inspire at all levels.
  • Create an environment where all colleagues are supported to be curious, innovate and experiment in the pursuit of continuous improvement.

The person

  • Demonstrable experience in an Account Management, Commercial or Business Development Leadership position, with an impressive delivery record involving a major long term, high value contract
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop working relationships at all levels but especially across the c-suite demonstrating resiliency and sensitivity to the balanced needs of the customer and Arqiva.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence and inspire at all levels
  • Strong commercially acumen with the ability to assess the financial and business impact of decisions, make risk based decisions and exercise sound judgement
  • Financially numerate with the ability to manage 3rd party suppliers
  • Experience in a commercially focussed director level role within utilities environment
  • Knowledge and experience of technology relating to smart metering, connectivity, IoT.
