About the Role:

We are a venture-backed real estate technology stealth startup seeking a highly experienced and well-rounded Principal Product Designer. This is an excellent opportunity to join an industry-defining company and play a pivotal role in ensuring user needs are well understood and communicated, shaping product design vision and strategy, creating high-quality, user-centric experiences, and maintaining and evolving consistent brand identity and design systems. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating and bringing to market products and experiences that users love, end-to-end experience design, and experience in early-stage product and company development.

Responsibilities:

UX Design & Prototyping

• Drive product design vision and architecture in collaboration with the Head of Product and diverse group of stakeholders
• Craft intuitive, user-centric flows and interfaces, considering all facets of the user experience, from overarching user journeys to micro-interactions.
• Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes for web and mobile.

UI Design & Branding

• Design visually captivating and coherent user interfaces, maintaining consistency across all platforms, products, and channels.
• Develop and maintain style guides, design systems, and UI libraries.
• Implement and maintain consistent brand identity across all channels and surfaces, including product interfaces, splash pages, slide decks, social media graphics, and more.

User Research & Discovery

• Conduct and analyze user interviews, surveys, and usability studies to gather insights.
• Identify pain points and areas for improvement in current and future experiences.
• Ensure user needs are well understood and communicated across the team.
• Develop user personas and journey maps to guide design decisions.

Leadership, Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with the Head of Product and engineering team on product discovery and delivery activities.
• Collaborate closely with engineers in a fast-paced environment to ensure designs are technically feasible and address any implementation hurdles.
• Clearly present and explain design decisions to a diverse group of stakeholders, from team members to external partners.
• Cultivate a collaborative environment where respectful challenge and feedback are welcomed, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the team and the product.
• Aspire to create and nurture a great product design team and culture over time.

Continuous Learning & Improvement

• Remain up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years in hands-on product design role focused on designing quality user experiences.
• Portfolio showcasing visual design craft, complex systems thinking, and user-centered approach resulting in launched products and experiences that users love.
• Proven expertise in designing and refining products based on genuine user feedback and data insights. A history of engaging with real users to achieve significant product results.
• 0-1 or “build” experience of a new product even if in a larger organization.

Bonus points:

• Experience building consumer-facing digital products.
• Experience working on ML/AI-powered user experiences.
• Passion for driving positive change in the real estate industries.

Comp, Benefits, and Location:

We’re a well-funded startup and offer competitive cash compensation and equity, along with comprehensive benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance, and generous paid time off/sick leave. We are currently remote but are centered around Seattle and Boston, and these teams may end up working hybrid in the future. We prefer candidates based in Boston, but are open to applicants from other locations, as our primary goal is to find the best person for the role.
