About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer with a product-oriented mindset, You will play a pivotal role in maintaining development velocity while ensuring end-to-end platform reliability, excellent security, and fantastic internal tooling. You will have the opportunity to strongly influence and contribute to the team's future.

In Platform Engineering, we focus on creating core AWS components to support millions of daily requests from our applications. We prioritise creating an easy path to production with the right level of abstraction, advocating best practices to our teams, and ensuring environment stability and security. This role includes participation in the paid on-call rota. This is a fast-paced learning role, and you will be supported to stay abreast of the latest advances in platform tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead in technological innovation and architectural design, with outstanding technical capabilities and deep industry experience.
  • Design, implement and improve scalable, highly available infrastructure and internal tooling that fits business needs
  • Take ownership of ensuring continuous operation of critical systems, including custom applications, databases and ETL pipelines
  • Work with Engineering to identify and implement processes and tools to streamline feature deployment in our growing product.
  • Enable fast iteration through implementation and improvement of automation

Tech Stack

AWS, GCP, Datadog, Terraform, Kubernetes, Crossplane, Backstage, Contour, Helm, ArgoCD, EC2, MySQL (RDS), PagerDuty, ElasticSearch

Required Skills And Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience DevOps, DevSecOps or Platform Engineering roles.
  • You have experience contributing to and driving successful digital transformation programs, working across diverse organisational structures and challenges.
  • Proven ability to drive complex technical solutions independently
  • Hands on experience with linux and AWS
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, communicate well, and consider different viewpoints.
  • Experience with modern programming languages and an interest in creating tooling to support internal customers.
  • Familiarity with Helm, Terraform, Kubernetes and other parts of our tech stack.

Nice to have

  • Capable of articulating, designing, and implementing self-service internal developer platforms, focusing on usability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Specialisation in Security, Databases or Machine Learning
  • Track-record of effective collaboration with other teams and departments to drive holistic outcomes
  • A proactive, innovative mindset with the ability to drive continuous improvement
  • Experience mentoring colleagues
