Overview:

Summary

The Network Engineer II is a key player in designing, implementing, and managing advanced IT network infrastructures for DOD and US Federal projects. With an emphasis on Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper solutions, this role is central to ensuring the stability, integrity, and security of data and voice networks. The individual will lead network installs, upgrades, troubleshooting, relocation, and migrations, and provide technical guidance for complex DOD requirements. Active Top Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

  • Plans, designs, and implements sophisticated DOD LANs and WANs, utilizing Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper hardware.
  • Oversees the deployment, migration, documentation, and post-sales engagement with DOD and US Federal customers, ensuring best practices are applied
  • Configures networks to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable operation for fulfilling mission-critical objectives
  • Delivers expert-level support and services, managing customer expectations and project deliverables
  • Troubleshoots high-end issues across networking and security infrastructures focusing on Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper technologies
  • Designs and implements complex Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper network infrastructure solutions, with an emphasis on security and efficiency in DOD environments
  • Leads detailed network requirement assessments and solution development for DOD projects
  • Constructs comprehensive network implementation plans and architecture designs, tailored to the unique needs of DOD and US Federal missions
  • Engages with customers through product demonstrations, presentations, and technical discussions that address DOD standards and requirements
  • Provides guidance and training to junior team members
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret clearance
  • BS/BA in IT, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent DOD industry experience
  • 7+ years of network engineering experience, with a focus on Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper technologies in DOD or secure government projects
  • Expert knowledge of network infrastructure LAN/WAN and network security systems
  • Network industry certifications with a focus on Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper technologies
  • Advanced understanding of WAN circuits, MPLS, and routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP)
  • Proficient in network monitoring and management tools appropriate for secure DOD networks
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, with effective customer-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks in a high-stress environment

 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a network engineering role with progressive responsibility.
  • Network industry certifications with a focus on Ciena, Cisco, and Juniper technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and lead network initiatives within the DOD and US Federal sector.
