Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to end school shootings and create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children. About the Role SHP’s accounting and finance department is looking for an Account Payable Associate to support our accounting group wherever needed. It is expected that this role will work across various areas of the accounting and finance group. This individual will work closely with our Senior Associate, Accounting and across the organization. SHP uses Sage Intacct for its accounting system, Salesforce for its donor management system, and Concur for our Expense reporting system. We are looking for an individual who likes working with numbers, and people in a fast-paced team environment. This individual should want to learn the Accounting & Finance function from the ground up.
This role will report to the Director, Accounting but will work closely and take directions from others in the Finance group.
Location We are a U.S. based organization and most of our staff work remotely.
Job Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
Review, enter and upload vendor invoices into accounting system (Sage Intacct).
Ensure approvals coding, and support documentation has been received for all invoices in compliance with the organization’s policies.
Review and process employee expense reports for compliance with policies prior to entry into accounting system.
Manage the electronic Accounts Payable filing system and verify that all documentation is in vendor folders including but not limited to contracts.
Assist in maintenance of accurate vendor information in the accounting system.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Accounting Director and Controller as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
Skilled in collaborating with remote teams to achieve goals.
Able to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with Sage Intacct, Concur, or accounting work is a plus.
Over one year of professional experience working in a team setting.
A commitment to SHP's vision and values.
Performs other duties as required.
Benefits and Salary Range The salary range for this position is $49,000-$59,000. (SHP follows a strict internal rubric to help guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay amongst new hires and current staff. New hires should expect to be brought on at the start of the range, except in extenuating circumstances.)

Our organization operates within a distributed workforce, allowing for location flexibility across the country for most positions. We provide remote office support for all staff, which includes a laptop, home office reimbursement, monthly Wi-Fi reimbursement up to $40, and monthly cell phone reimbursement up to $50.
