Job description

Position Details: Full-time, Permanent, New Position
Starting Salary: $66,100, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.
Location: Remote/Hybrid within Canada
Closing Deadline: March 3, 2025 (11:59PM EDT)  

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Manager of Major Projects, the Business Analyst will support the assessment and improvement of business processes, systems, and workflows across various divisions within the organization. This position will be responsible for identifying business needs, gathering requirements, and delivering recommendations to optimize operations and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals. The Business Analyst will work collaboratively as a member of the Project Management Office, with IT and cross-functional teams to ensure that solutions align with business objectives and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Identify, analyze, and document business processes and workflows, with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across DUC’s business units to gather business requirements, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Evaluate existing business processes and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance.
  • Conduct data analysis and develop reports or metrics to track the effectiveness of business process changes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed business requirement documents, use cases, user stories, and process flows.
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback on business needs and proposed solutions.
  • Ensure that requirements are properly validated and aligned with organizational strategies.
  • Assist in the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects by providing business analysis support.
  • Work with project managers to ensure business requirements are incorporated into project plans and timelines.
  • Monitor project progress and provide feedback to ensure deliverables meet business expectations.
  • Communicate project updates, business requirements, and process changes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and business partners to ensure alignment and foster collaboration.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, preferably in medium to large organizations.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Business Analysis Certification (e.g., CBAP, CCBA, or similar) is an asset.
  • Experience working with business process modeling, requirements gathering, and data analysis is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of business analysis principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Proficiency in business analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and the ability to collaborate with project teams.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Knowledge of process modeling and improvement techniques (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to attend meetings and workshops as required.
