We have an exciting remote opportunity for a Director of Finance/Assistant Treasurer. This position can be performed remotely from any of the following states: AR, OK, MO, ME, TX, SC, TN, KS, FL, NJ, NY or LA. 

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Finance / Assistant Treasurer to join our dynamic finance team. This role will be instrumental in developing and overseeing working capital management strategies, treasury operations, policies, and budgets for the Treasury function. The Director of Finance / Assistant Treasurer will also support the Corporate Treasurer in managing the company’s financial activities, including cash management, risk management, debt compliance, and financial planning.

This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. The Director of Finance / Assistant Treasurer will provide guidance, direction, and tactical oversight to ensure the efficient use of financial resources. Additionally, this individual will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks, rating agencies, actuaries, and other financial institutions to advance the company's strategic objectives.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Treasurer in developing and overseeing Treasury strategies, operations, policies, and budgets aligned with the company’s strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing corporate liquidity, capital markets, banking and rating agency relationships, interest rate management, debt covenant compliance, benefits finance and investments, shareholder relations, and department budgeting/forecasting.
  • Implementing short- and long-term financing strategies to meet the organization’s liquidity needs and overseeing the execution of approved financing plans.
  • Managing corporate capital structure and cash forecasting to ensure a strong balance sheet, solid investment-grade credit rating, and sufficient liquidity for company operations.
  • Negotiating terms and fees for debt and equity financing with banks and other institutions, including credit facilities and public and private financing arrangements.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with banks and rating agencies to support financing objectives.
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with key debt covenants.
  • Leading Treasury related budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Providing strategic oversight of Treasury-related regulatory activities, including capital structure, cost of capital, and benefits finance.
  • Supporting regulatory rate cases by providing testimony on debt-to-equity structure and expected rates of return.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of GAAP and FERC accounting requirements related to Treasury functions.
  • Review and validate financial statements to ensure Treasury related financial reporting accuracy.
  • Develop and monitor measurable metrics to ensure departmental and organizational objectives are met.
  • Present Treasury related updates to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee, as needed.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of internal controls to safeguard corporate assets and ensure financial integrity within Treasury processes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to the Treasury team, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
  • Foster professional development opportunities that align with both company needs and individual career goals.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with peers, senior management, and other leaders across the company.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and accounting practices that may impact the company.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with banks, rating agencies, actuaries, and other third-party financial institutions.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in treasury, capital markets, or related fields required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Experience in accounting or financial planning and analysis is a plus.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Proven experience executing capital market transactions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong understanding of treasury cash management products and treasury workstations.
  • Deep knowledge of financial drivers within the energy and utility sectors.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Results-driven, deadline-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to act as a key liaison between the company, banks, rating agencies, and the broader financial community.
