About the Role:
As the Senior Director of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and deployment of our software products. You will lead a cross-functional team of engineers, working closely with Product, Design, and other departments to deliver robust, scalable, and innovative solutions. Your leadership and technical expertise will be critical in guiding the growth of the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse global team of software engineers, setting clear expectations and fostering a high-performance culture.
Develop and implement team structure, processes, and strategies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.
Provide regular performance feedback, career development, and professional growth opportunities for team members.
Collaborate with other leadership teams to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
Technical Strategy & Execution:
Drive the technical vision and roadmap in alignment with the company’s product and business objectives.
Collaborate with Sr engineers and Chief Architect across the org to design a scalable, secure, and maintainable system.
Make key decisions on technology selection, architecture, and engineering best practices.
Establish engineering processes to ensure code quality, continuous integration, and automated testing.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with Product Management, Operations , UX/UI, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and alignment.
Influence the product strategy and prioritize engineering efforts based on business impact.
Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making with other teams and stakeholders.
Growth & Innovation:
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the engineering team is always evolving and adopting the latest technologies.
Encourage a data-driven approach to decision-making and monitor key performance metrics for the engineering team.
Take initiative to identify and solve complex technical challenges, driving innovation across the organization.
Scaling & Performance Management:
Lead efforts to scale the engineering team and infrastructure as the company grows.
Implement strategies to maintain engineering excellence as the team and company expand.
Establish and track KPIs for team performance, delivery timelines, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a senior engineering leader, with 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership role at a fast-paced startup or growth-stage company.
Extensive experience in managing and scaling engineering teams (10+ engineers) with a strong focus on mentorship, coaching, and talent development.
Deep expertise in software architecture, design patterns, and modern development practices.
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure), microservices, CI/CD, and building scalable, production-level systems.
Experience in Java, Python or similar programming languages.
Strong knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or similar).
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make technical decisions that balance short-term needs with long-term goals.
Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing relationships with executive stakeholders.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
