Prudential’s Group Insurance business manufactures and distributes a full range of group life, long-term and short-term group disability, supplemental health, and group corporate, bank and trust owned life insurance in the U.S., primarily to institutional clients for use in connection with employee and membership benefits plans. Group Insurance also sells accidental death and dismemberment and other ancillary coverages and provides plan administrative services in connection with its insurance coverages.
The Group Insurance business is undergoing a transformation which includes expanding product offerings and driving sustainable, profitable growth. We are currently seeking an individual to become part of the Group Life Product team, as a Life Product Director, Growth Initiatives. This role will partner closely with the VP, Group Life Product Lead to identify and deliver on new Life Product opportunities aligned to the Life Product strategy and supportive of the growth priorities for the Life P&L.
The current employee work arrangement for this position is fully virtual. While this position does not require your on-site presence on a regular basis, depending on business preferences, there may be occasions where you are required to be on-site at a Prudential office.
What you can expect:
Owning, leading, and executing product initiatives, including new product and capability development, to achieve growth of the life product portfolio.
Developing the business case for new initiatives in support of the P&L and Product strategy.
Articulating potential impact of new opportunities along with alignment to Group Insurance priorities.
Positioning Prudential as a Thought Leader in the Group Life market. Attending conferences, hosting webinars and creating content for the product.
Collaborating and influencing other functions in the business to ensure profitable products including pricing, training, distribution, claims, etc.
Creating and implementing process improvements and product solutions that continually improve the customer experience.
Monitoring the industry and competitive landscape to identify new opportunities to grow the life product portfolio.
Supporting distribution, underwriting and broker training for new product and capability roll outs.
Reporting product performance to the Product Lead and the Product P&L lead, as needed.
Understanding the competitive landscape and using it as an input to advise on the strategy and new product development.
Handling escalations from product managers
Providing coaching for product managers on certain deliverables
What you’ll need:
Deep experience within product strategy/management with expertise in Life insurance, with at least 3+ years’ experience in group life.
Experience leading significant initiatives that impact multiple business areas
A creative problem-solver who exhibits sound business judgement to balance risk and innovation.
Curiosity along with strong analytical skills to dig into the “why” with a strong desire to understand the given scenario.
Consumer-focused mindset that continuously develops a keen understanding of the consumer mindset and how our solutions impact our clients and end-consumers.
Action oriented with the ability to execute an operational plan set with the Product Lead.
Strong interpersonal skills, clear communication skills, team orientation, and the desire and ability to work with business partners across the organization.
Adept at navigating ambiguous situations, demonstrating resilience, and operating in the "grey".
Dedicated, principled but flexible and hard-working, with a high energy level.
Collaborator who proactively partners across teams in pursuit of consistent and quality customer experience.
