Job description

The University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is seeking a Social Media Specialist to join our team. The Social Media Specialist is a full-time remote position. This role focuses on the tactical development and execution of engaging social media content across various platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of creativity and copywriting skills, with an eye for compelling visuals and messaging that resonate with our audiences. As a Social Media Specialist, you will be responsible for creating, scheduling, and publishing timely and relevant content across UAGC’s social media channels. You will assist in the creative development of posts, including writing copy, selecting visuals, and collaborating with designers when needed. Additionally, you will support the Community Manager by monitoring and engaging with our online community, ensuring responsive and meaningful interactions with followers.
 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and edit engaging social media content, including captions, graphics, and short-form videos, to support campaigns and brand messaging
  • Ensure all content aligns with UAGC’s voice, tone, and strategic objectives.
  • Maintain and manage the editorial calendar to organize and track upcoming content
  • Ensure all content follows the publishing process, from planning to approval
  • Schedule and publish content through our social media management platform, ensuring timely and relevant delivery while adhering to brand guidelines
  • Assist the Community Manager in monitoring and responding to comments, messages, and interactions on social media
  • Foster a positive and engaging online presence by encouraging meaningful conversations with followers.
  • Track key performance metrics, analyze engagement data, and provide insights to optimize content strategy. Share recommendations with the team to enhance social media effectiveness.
  • Work with internal teams, including student support teams, marketing, and communications, to align social media content with broader campaigns, initiatives, and institutional goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, best practices, and emerging trends in higher education and online learning environments.
  • Proficiency in managing and publishing content across all major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok.
  • Ability to develop strategies that enhance engagement, student recruitment, and institutional branding.
  • Proficiency in creating engaging content, including text, images, videos, and live streams tailored for different social media channels.
  • Experience using graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software.
  • Ability to monitor, engage, and moderate online communities while fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for responding to inquiries, handling concerns, and building relationships with students, alumni, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to track, measure, and interpret key performance metrics using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Sprinklr, Brand24, RivalIQ, etc).
  • Experience applying data insights to optimize social media campaigns and engagement strategies.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and brand consistency.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience 
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent
    combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in content development for social media, including writing copy, designing graphics, editing videos, and producing other creative assets as needed.
  • Experience managing and organizing assignments within project management systems such as Workfront, Asana, JIRA, Airtable, or Trello.
  • Proficiency in using Sprinklr or similar social media management systems (SMMS) for publishing, monitoring, and reporting.

Rate of Pay: $53,039 - $66,299

Compensation Type: Salary at 1.0 full-time equivalence (FTE) 

Grade: 7

The Rate of Pay Field represents the University of Arizona’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.  The University considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal equity. 

The Grade Range Minimum, Midpoint, and Maximum Fields listed below represent a full range of career compensation growth over time in this position and grade.
