At Pixo, we imagine, design, and develop strategic apps and websites that guide, inform, and delight real people. We don’t solve problems at face value. We ask questions and explore ideas.
As a group, we’re experienced consultants who love what we do and enjoy collaborating with each other to deliver the highest quality projects. We care deeply about our projects and about each other; we are an open, honest, and supportive team. To do these things well, we count on our Project Management team to keep us on track and strategically guide our projects.
The position
We’re looking for a seasoned, full-time Senior Project Manager with technical experience who can contribute their management and leadership experience directly with project teams and collaborate with their colleagues on the PM team to elevate and refine PM practices company-wide.
We need an inspirational and confident project manager who can think strategically about typical project management challenges, while also diving into complex software project scopes. You should have a track record of using your knowledge and experience to manage and communicate effectively across client and project teams. We’re looking for strong leadership skills and a technical background to help dig into the nitty-gritty details of project challenges when they arise.
In this role, you’ll manage multiple projects using a mix of agile and waterfall methodologies, working closely with our team of designers, content strategists, and engineers. Your experience and skills will help ensure that strong relationships are fostered with our clients, and team members feel comfortable openly communicating about the project throughout its timeline.
We are committed to diversity and inclusion at Pixo. We’re a woman-owned, LGBT-owned agency, and we encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
In this role, you will…
- Keep the pulse of your projects.
- Understand each project well enough to prioritize work, recognize and anticipate problems, and articulate project details to clients.
- Run project stand-ups with your teams to prioritize & identify work, facilitate team retrospectives, and lead client meetings to keep them apprised of progress.
- Create and manage project documents such as timelines, budgets, requirements, and re-estimations.
- Work closely with your team to create quarterly business review documents.
- Communicate and hold teams accountable.
- Capture important details throughout projects and communicate necessary information to project teams, clients, and Pixo leadership.
- Manage outstanding items for both internal and client teams.
- Identify and remove roadblocks for teams by coordinating between departments and between internal & client teams.
- Own and update project status reports and requirements documentation.
- Identify, schedule, and lead project meetings.
- Participate in department-level meetings to provide project updates and identify resourcing needs.
- Keep internal teams and clients accountable to responsibilities and deadlines.
- Think strategically and problem-solve.
- Make clients aware of risks, blockers, schedules, and budgets and collaborate with them to identify solutions.
- Understand the potential timeline and budget implications of technical issues flagged by your team and help to shape next steps.
- Be an advocate for the client, including reminding the team of the client’s “why” when making major decisions and prioritization.
- Maintain project backlogs to allow teams to pivot to alternate work when they become blocked on a project or task.
You must be able to:
- Plan, prioritize, and manage deliverables for multiple projects with parallel timelines.
- Be comfortable utilizing waterfall, agile, and scrum methodologies.
- Understand how to identify and raise flags about project risks.
- Discuss and explain project details with both technical and non-technical clients.
- Manage budgets and identify when they are at risk.
- Provide strong leadership skills and thrive as a vocal and engaged member of a team.
- Communicate exceptionally well when writing and speaking.
- Understand the shape of a typical software project cycle, using your past experience to make knowledgeable decisions and recommendations.
- Remain confident during conflict and be able to construct and propose rational solutions.
- Show genuine and proactive interest in design and technology.
Bonus points if you have:
- CAPM, PMP, Agile/Scrum or equivalent certifications or training
- 5+ years of experience in a digital agency
- Experience using Jira

About us
At Pixo you will be part of a close-knit, collaborative, and diverse group of professionals. We do great work, and we care how it gets done. We make time for sharing our knowledge, giving each other feedback, growing as professionals, and collaborating closely with our clients. While we’d be hard-pressed to describe a “typical” project, we most often create web applications, mobile applications, and websites.
Our clients come from a wide range of industries — including agriculture, higher education, and health care — and vary in size from small start-ups to multinational corporations. They seek us out because of our reputation for solving tough problems and providing highly customized solutions.
At Pixo, we take our company values seriously. Here’s a taste:
- We value people over process and consider our workplace as an example of how tech companies should treat each other.
- We commit to being approachable and available to each other at all levels.
- We demand quality of ourselves and each other.
- When we see something that needs addressing, we speak up, ask questions, or recommend a change.
- We intentionally make time to recharge and disconnect and don’t expect each other to be “on” all the time.
Inclusion at Pixo
Pixo is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity employer. We are woman-owned and LGBT-owned, and are committed to diversity and inclusion at Pixo. In our workplace, we recognize and celebrate diversity. We believe all people are equal and we strive to be inclusive.
We practice this by showing each other respect, being open to other people’s ideas, expressing a willingness to be curious and to learn and to share, and recognize that we don't have the same experiences and backgrounds.
We encourage you to apply even if you feel you don’t meet all criteria; different experiences and backgrounds mean better tech for all.
