About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on technical leader to drive the design, implementation, and operational excellence of our cloud platform to support our industry-leading diagnostic test. As a Principal Cloud Engineer, you’ll design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure and practices that underpin our applications and cloud architecture. These responsibilities include infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, automated CI/CD using GitHub Actions, compute scaling using containerized software, and consulting with teams on how best to build scalable, secure, and cost-effective software in the cloud. Your role will include both technical vision and day-to-day implementation.

This position is flexible for fully onsite in Boulder, CO, hybrid, or remote.

What You Will Do:

Design, implement, and maintain cloud architecture solutions that support and enable teams to deliver software quickly and consistently.
Create infrastructure-as-code solutions with Terraform to ensure consistency, scalability, and disaster recovery.
Collaborate with teams including software engineering, bioinformatics, and IT to build cloud-native solutions.
Implement and enable observability of cloud infrastructure, software, and bioinformatics pipelines through monitoring, alerting, and telemetry.
Automate the deployment and configuration process of software and bioinformatics pipelines.
Drive improvements in security posture through configuration management, secrets, and access controls to cloud resources.
Contribute to cost management strategies through resource optimization, data retention policies, and leveraging cloud tooling.
Manage contractors and full-time employees in the future.

What You Will Bring:

10+ years of industry experience.
Experience leading and shipping large infrastructure projects in collaboration with multiple engineering teams.
Expertise with public cloud providers such as AWS and GCP.
Proficiency with container and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes (k8s), Google Cloud Run, and AWS Fargate.
Proven track record in automating and managing infrastructure that is approachable by any engineering team.
Learners’ mindset, pragmatic approach to problem solving, and
Passion for supporting and enabling teams to ship software quickly and without manual intervention.
Broad ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with many types of stakeholders.
Experience managing contractors and full-time employees as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

This role is offering a salary between $190,000 - $230,000 and is eligible for equity offerings.
